It's OK, and might actually be preferable, to play more strings than are tabbed here, so long as you're holding that C chord. Obviously, if you're not playing the riffs, the chord is C. I'm a little unsure about the D5 chord. I'm reasonably sure it's not a G/D, and it's definitely not a D major. D min or Dsus2 seem to work OK but neither sounded just right to me. You can certainly play with with no capo, in that case the "everybody, everybody..." walkdown might be easier to play as power chords: D5 C#5 B5 A5 G5 A5 / D5 C#5 B5 A5 G5 F#5 E5 D5 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Gobias Industries Posted June 7, 2006 Share Posted June 7, 2006 Tweedy did this solo on 11.6.05 in Minneapolis, and he did it entirely differently. i'll pull it up later. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Gobias Industries Posted June 10, 2006 Share Posted June 10, 2006 (edited) JUST A KID - Jeff Tweedy solo.ok. he does it drop d, and he basically uses power chords and variants. He also only plays the first 2/3 of the song, meaning that he forgets how the rest of the song goes. so the parts he played are what i tab out. hopefully, you have a recording to work off of, so the rhythms aren't quite as daunting, as tabs so no rhythm at all. i do what i can, though. Verse Riffages 1-3 (respectively, later referred to as [1], [2], [3]): [1] [2] [3] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 5 5 x x - - - - - - 12 12s14s9 5 5 x x 12 12s10s12s10s9 0 0 0 0 x1 5 5 x x 0 0 0 0 0 0 note: [1] is repeated x1, if the x1 above is confusing notation. it's just to repeat it, once, meaning you play it twice. Chorus Riffage, later notated as [C]: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 12 12 9 7 5 5 7 7 12 12 9 7 5 4 2 12 11 9 7 5 5 7 7 12 11 9 7 5 4 2 other info: -D powerchord (either power it 0 or 12 - it shouldn't make a difference. i sometimes do a 0 on the low D and 9 on the A for a interesting effect, but it shouldn't matter in the slightest), noted as [D] -G powerchord (power 5), noted as [G] ++++[C] means CHORUS RIFFAGE, not the [C] powerchord, likewise, [1], [2], [3] do not mean to powerchord the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd frets, respectively. these four refer to their respective riffs. INTRO: [1] [2] [3] [D]Maybe I’m just a kidMaybe I just don’t fit in[G]I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready I’m ready to go now [3] [D]I don’t wanna go to schoolBut I don’t get to make the rules[G]Too early, too early, too early, too early in the morning [3] [C]Everybody, everybody, everybody, everybodyHas to do something they don’t want to doEverybody, everybody, everybody, everybodyHas to be something, oh, why is that true? jhc Posted June 11, 2006 Author Share Posted June 11, 2006 Thanks man. Without having a guitar with me, I'm guessing that our versions have the same notes/chords, just yours is more accurately voiced. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
Gobias Industries Posted June 11, 2006 Share Posted June 11, 2006 (edited) well, i notice a slight error in mine, and it should be corrected shortly. mp3: http://www.sendspace.com/file/rgbqdh Edited June 11, 2006 by poortranslator Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Gobias Industries Posted June 12, 2006 Share Posted June 12, 2006 well, ok, i found another error, but it's hardly killer. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
jhc Posted June 12, 2006 Author Share Posted June 12, 2006 well, ok, i found another error, but it's hardly killer. I found one too - in your C chord riffage, there isn't any 3rd fret power chord - it goes 4th fret (F#5) to 2nd fret (E5) to the D. Otherwise, sounds great. Pretty much the same a mine, but having that ringing D string on riffs 1 and 3 does make it sound much Quote Link to post Share on other sites
Gobias Industries Posted June 13, 2006 Share Posted June 13, 2006 oh. haha, that probably wasn't supposed to be there. fixing... Quote Link to post Share on other sites
