bjorn_skurj
I was about to ask if Vivian Smith-Smythe-Smith was competing this year. However, I would like to note that Hendrick's Gin is really fucking good gin. I would even go so far as to call it "yummy."
Duck-Billed Catechist
The guy who says that being a chap is a lifestyle, not a hobby for him seems like a tool. Reminds me of an ex-friend of mine who insists on speaking in a faux-British accent and using British spellings.
Albert Tatlock
The guy who says that being a chap is a lifestyle, not a hobby for him seems like a tool. You're really taking him seriously?
M. (hristine
The most recent case of M. Chris synchronicity is tangled up with you, Andrew. Life really is kind of funny. Today, my brother in France sent me this link. One of his French buddies told him about it a few months ago, and he decided to share it with me because he thought I would "get a kick out of it". I then linked him to this thread. We giggled about kismet the rest of our conversation. The Chap
Albert Tatlock
I don't currently have a subscription to any magazines. This may change ... This may come in useful for your brother in France for communicating with the locals:- Harking back to the days of empire, the Shouting at Foreigners contest proved popular. There's some great stuff at that site - letters page, archive, ... thanks! Should provide some nice lunchtime reading for a while. You've made my day! I came dashed close to changing my avatar to some of the things in there. What do you think? Is Mr Gumby sacred now? Great to see Stephen Fry getting involved! Do you get QI on US TV?
M. (hristine
Always happy to make your day! Mr. Gumby is precious to me, so any change there would be brief I should think. We have a BBC station here. I watch very little telly myself, and don't know if QI airs here. I know Stephen solely from the Harry Potter movies. As for the French shouting at foreigners...well you know... I've been watching a lot of Fry lately in the Jeeves & Wooster series (he's Jeeves, of course).
M. (hristine
Oh. I knew he was associated with Harry Potter somehow. The older I get, the lamer I get with regards to attending to popular culture.I am beginning to realize what an anomaly I have become.I guess I spend too much time outside. And reading books. All the other stuff is just not nearly as interesting.

M. (hristine
Spoken like a native! Indeed. My brother and I were talking on Skype when we were looking at the Chap site. He made me read the copy to him in my British accent. I had him rolling. He said one has to read Chap with a British accent.
