Analogman
The Dutch call it the "moothy", the Scotch call it a "gob iron" and American's call it a "harp," shortened from "French Harp," the label on early imports of the instrument [from Germany].
LouieB
"Folk Process"??? Sounds like they just really don't have anything new to do, so they are making a recording of a bunch of old songs and trying to make it sound sexy. LouieB

Harp can be a harmonica or that huge thing that Joanna Newsome and Harpo Marx play or something slightly smaller that is used in Celtic music.... LouieB
and Barry Manilow! LouieB See Mermaid Ave, twice. Not really. MA were lyrics that had not been really turned into songs or at least not publicly. Therefore they WERE something new. Oh and Steven Foster....not folk songs.....Foster was one of the first and most famous composers of American popular songs. LouieB

Analogman
Really, I thought everyone liked the Dolls . Same reason I don't care much for punk rock - not a fan of sloppy instrument playing. I think I use to have a tape of the NYD back in my navy days.
