Welsh Rich
From The Guardian today... Rough Trade 130 Talbot Road, London W11020-7229 8541Thirty years since it first opened its doors, Rough Trade is still enjoying its reign as the best independent record store in Britain, if not the world. Started by Geoff Travis in 1976 as a record store, and two years later a record label, in 1983 Pete Donne, Judith Crighton and Nigel House, all Rough Trade employees, bought the shop. Albert Tatlock
From The Guardian today...Spillers Records in Cardiff is a personal favourite and I spent most of my student grant in there over the 3 years I lived there... I even dated one of the girls who worked there... Funnily enough, that's the first place that came in to my head when I started reading, but I never thought it would actually be in the list. There was another place I used to frequent too, but I can't remember the name now. They don't mention the Hayes/David Morgans redevelopment, so maybe it will survive. A while ago I was browsing the Rough Trade website and they had a selection on 'celebrity shoppers' - staff remembering incidents through the years. I can't find it now, but the best one was a young over-zealous guy on the counter being stopped in his tracks by a surly Van Morrison replying "If I want your advice I'll ask for it young man". Welsh Rich
I bumped, quite literally, into Brian Hibbard (once a member of the Flying Pickets) in there, both of us apologising and having a bit of banter about students been pissed in the afternoon... great stuff

Been to quite a few on there: Rough Trade, Picadilly Records, 3 Beat, Selectadisc, Rounders and have seen Beanos but never been in.
