squarewave
What management experience does he have? Just curious, I don't know.More than any President in the past 20 years or so... Even as a first term US Senator, he resides in Washington D.C., has had a hand in shaping National and International policy. By the time the he has to step aside to focus on the election, he will have sat in countless meetings with other members of the Legislative Branch, possibly participated in groups, committees, etc. on important topics up for a planned vote during that Session, and actually voted on topics such as Medicare, healthcare, International commerce, defense spending, Social Security, treaties, embargoes, International diplomacy, etc... You know, National and International concerns with which the President should be very familiar?? We have voted Governors into this office for the last couple decades, and they are among the least qualified individuals to participate in actual national and world events from an experience standpoint. I trust that Governor Bush (take your pick) or Governor Clinton has rallied to bring jobs to his State, fight for highway mopney, etc... But what did they do when they got into the White House and the shit hit the fan?? They probably called meetings whioch included members of a related Committee (meaning Congressmen and their aides who actually KNOW about the topic) to explain to them what is actually happening, what that means to the US and our allies, and what the real world effects will be to any possible reaction... This is different than lobbying for a grant on improving the roads in the rural counties of their State.
uncle wilco
However, taking advantage of your spouse's name and rep is different than being put on their payroll.yeah, being on the payroll doesn't pay for sh*t. she knows where the money is. why do you think she put up with bill? she's holding out for the payoff in '08. i can't wait until she loses. owl
He was born before he was named. And I'm sure you wouldn't vote for him because of his politics, but anyone who bases their vote for a candidate based on the candidate's name (any one of them) is retarded. I can't imagine that names make that much of a difference. Our president's name is Bush, for Chrissake, and another guy named Gore almost beat the guy named Bush. Analogman
Much as I like him, I think we need to keep a close/shifty eye on Barack because my radar went up. I just told D tonight that I do not believe that he is black in the sense that we all assume he is. He is indian. He is Muslim. He may have al qaeda ties. Just laying it out there for you to consume. Nah, I'm not saying that they (Rush, etc.) won't pounce on his name, or that those assholes won't be effective. At face value, though, right now, I don't think it matters to most Americans. MattZ
a-man, to whom can we attribute that ignorant quote? That has to be Stephen Colbert or someone of his ilk. Please tell me I am right. Please.

uncle wilco
i love blogs that have opinions spouted off the tops of peoples heads with no regard for "facts". LouieB
I'm surprised that his land deal with Rezko hasn't received more coverage. As the shit hits the fan on the state level with this, it may....I don't really understand what happened. They bought land next to eachother, then later Obama buys a small strip of Rezko's property. It's all really, really fishy, but nothing illegal, so...?You are correct it was not illegal, but Rezko (if I read the stories correctly) still owns the land next door and it helped keep down the price of Obama's home by buying the strip of land at a relatively high price. So yea, there is nothing illegal here, but the guy is under inditement with regards to other stuff that is going on. Rezko had his hands in everyone's pockets, Democrat and Republican. Undoubtedly he knows where all the skeletons are hid. Obama has said what he did with Rezko was kind of stupid, so even he knows it may not have been illegal, but it was shady. Guest Speed Racer
But Obama has already donated Rezko's campaign contribution to charity and cleaned up as best he can. The Chicago Board of Realty has announced that there was nothing illegal about it. It really is a story that just can't go anywhere in regards to Obama.
Analogman
This also reminds me of the Jimmy Smits era of The West Wing.
EL the Famous
does this mean Bomber McStabachristian might not win the senate race in 06? is a name really that big of a macaca in american politics? I second the 'Brilliant' given in a post by the esteemed resident of Boston earlier.
