Unfortunately for the greedy and uncaring (anti-socialists) and the lazy and uncaring (anti-capitalists), the best way to keep each in check is to inject bits of its opposite and balance it. I grew up needing food stamps for groceries and district clinic for health care. anodyne Posted February 13, 2007 Share Posted February 13, 2007 if you talk total dollars and not a percentage per capita OR percentage of GNP. we also have one of the most stratified societies in terms of wealth. statistics can be parsed to "prove" just about any point. i'm surprised steve colbert hasn't embraced them more.
