I love continentals last minute deals....for $150 rt I am going to Halifax, NS this weekend from NJ. I couldn't pass it up in addition to the fact I don't have to take off of work for this one thanks to memorial day! Yay! Anyways I know little about Halifax and surround areas. I understand visiting the Maritime Museaum is a must, I want to visit Alexander Keiths Brewery too...was thinking in addition a visit to Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg...anyone have any other recommendations or must sees? I will accept any restuaraunt recommendations too! :cheers

This probably says more about me than it does about Halifax, but one of my favourite things to do there is visit the cemetaries. The Old Burying Ground is a fascinating place and the Titanic graves at the Fairview Lawn Cemetary are also worth a look.

Old Town Lunenburg (a UNESCO world heritage site) is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. (And not just because they have a great cemetary. :lol) If you go, be sure to check out the tall ships.

Yep...I forgot thats where they are from..I will bring my between the bridges album too and listen to it there!

I grew up in Halifax, it's a fun city!

There's lots to do, I guess you just have to know where to go.

Sping Garden road is always great this time of year.

I would reccomend the economy shoe shop for an awesome place to have a beer.

You'll know why if you go there, that place is huge.

Head up Quinpool rd, go to the commons.

Go to the waterfront, get some amazing fish and chips.

And drink lots of beer, at all the awesome pubs downtown.

Ahhhh Halifax. Lived there for about 5 years. It's one of my favourite places in the world.

Definitely visit the economy shoe shop, it was one of my favourite haunts while I lived there. Peggy's Cove is definitely worth the trip. It's about 40 mins outside the city. If there are any shows going on at the Marquee Club on Gottigen St. I'd check that out. The Seahorse, next to the shoe shop, is a great place for punk music if you're into that. Check out Neptune Theatre for a live show. Definitely walk around the waterfront and get something to eat while listening to bagpipe buskers. For great food, kinda expensive, try the Press Gang. For great food, cheap, go to Darrells Restaurant on Fenwick. People watch on Spring Garden Road. Check out the Black Market for cool stuff in general. If you want good ol' fashioned celtic music head to the Pogue Fado on Barrington St., be prepared to stagger home. There's a new place in town called Bubble's Mansion that I haven't been to yet. The owner is one of the stars of the Canadian show The Trailer Park Boys. And if you're lucky enough to be in town while the Joel Plaskett Emergency are playing...GO! You won't regret it.

Have a great time!
