bethwid
It seems Wilco is everywhere. Last night at a show at the Ark in Ann Arbor Chris Thile's band played a Wilco cover. First they played Thile's song "Stay Away," which contains the line: "You are the devil. Stay away from me..." Then they announced that they were going to do a cover of a song by the band, Wilco, which was pretty much the total opposite message of that song. Over the cheers, my dear husband was astute enough to call it out: "Hell is Chrome". Sure enough. The violin sounded awesome. So great to see Wilco get all the love they deserve. cryptique
Man, I wish I'd been there. Was meaning to get to that show. You from A2, bethwid?

dixiecupdrinker
I miss Ann Arbor. I am happy that I got to go back a few weeks ago for a birfday party (that turned into a surprise engagement party)at Cafe Felix and then much drunkenness. anyway, dcd
ike67
I was fortunate enough to be at that Chris Thile show. The performance was flawless...this band was having so much fun on stage. Amazing musicians. They are going to be at The Abbey Pub in Chicago on June 12th....you gotta go if you live near there. I caught some video of the Ann Arbor show...but my battery ran out before the Wilco song....sorry 'bout that. I also posted a small review on my music blog. http://thelonemicrophone.blogspot.com http://thelonemicrophone.blogspot.com/2007...mistry-set.html I try to stay up on all the latest with Wilco too, so you might enjoy checking out my site from time to time. bethwid
Wow. Little did I know, the VC'ers are everywhere too. Thanks for the links to your video. Wonderful show. Yes I am an Ann Arborite at heart, but alas a mortgage refugee. I live in a small town west of A2. Today I'm so excited to be getting ready for a road trip to accompany the DH to a conference...in Cincinnati. And so I get to go see my favorite band for the first time in 8 months!! I can't count the number of times I've seen them, but I still get charged up. Hope the skies are as blue over the Arnoff as there are here in Chelsea.

That reminds me, I haven't had that bread at the Common Grill for far too long. We looked at a few houses in Chelsea, but in the end we found a perfect little house in southwest Ann Arbor, so that's where we bought (closer to our jobs, though I work off Baker Road). Yeah, we almost certainly paid a bit too much for it, and the taxes are pretty brutal, but we love being where we are. Anyway, glad to see another VCer in the area! Maybe we'll see you at a show sometime. In addition to some of the Ann Arbor/Detroit-area folks, some of whom I have yet to meet, there are a few others who occasionally drive in from elsewhere (I'm looking at you, Wendy) to see shows around here.
