Ant
A quick glance at the always fantastic lineup of this year's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival (you know the free one in GG Park?) has Tweedy appearing Friday in a benefit/teach-in for Daniel Pearl. Hoping he performs on Sat. or Sun. too Can't wait to hear Steve Earle run out his new tunes as well.
Analogman
Here is a thread on that - thank you for posting. And I think Bill Monroe would turn up his nose at this.
gogo
And I think Bill Monroe would turn up his nose at this. That's why it's "hardly strictly", silly! Note to new folks and/or folks who don't check in as often as some of us do ( ): After the Show is generally reserved for reports about shows that have already happened. For announcements or discussions of upcoming Wilco or Wilco-related shows, please check out Just a Fan.

used_to_be
I think Bill Monroe would turn up his nose at this. I think you might be surprised how Bill Monroe would respond to this.... he was really a happy, loving guy. He was joyous about music and about musicians and the way they loved his music. e.g., The Granddaddy of Bluegrass said he felt honored when The King of Rock n' Roll played a new arrangement of "Blue Moon of Kentucky" (and Sam Phillips was afraid that he might kill him for recording it!!) Analogman
Oh - I have always heard he was not such a nice guy - and looked down on non-traditional bluegrass bands.
used_to_be
nope... he loved music. I was thrilled that got to see him in New Orleans a year before he went "High Lonesome" for good. There's a great documentary about him and his music... I'll try to find the title, but it might be called, simply: "High Lonesome".
gogo
Oh - I have always heard he was not such a nice guy - and looked down on non-traditional bluegrass bands.Yeah, I had heard that too, that he was definitely a "strictly strictly" bluegrass guy. I had also heard that he didn't think women could/should play bluegrass, but who knows if that's true?
