Drop D (DADGBE) then put a capo on the 2nd fret.

All finger positions in relation to the capo. Strum hard, esp. the lower two strings.

Hold on, you run the risk of exciting me.

ok so listening to some recordings of jeff playing this solo, on one particular recording he mentions that he plays this in a different key because he refuses to buy a guitar that has a cut away... so i'm not much of a guitar/music theorist, but could someone get me started on converting this to the new key to make it a lot easier to play on acoustic?

Hook me up with the recording. I may not have a guitar, but I can identify a key pretty easy.

I think what Jeff is referring to is this:

with a capo at II, then you really are playing those 10-12-10 & 12-12-12 chords at 12-14-12 & 14-14-14. Pretty tough for an acoustic without a cutaway.

Therefore, I think Jeff plays it without capo (making the 12 fret do-able).

That is the key change: down a full step.
