DIY Wilco Live Shows

Recommended Posts

In case anyone is interested in seeing a bunch of goofy Wilco fans attempt to play Wilco tunes live in Chicago, you've got two opportunities this month!

Who?

The Late Greats (a.k.a. the Old Town School's Wilco Ensemble, a.k.a. the Wilclones, a.k.a. the Wilcult)

What's it all about?

A large group of Wilco fans organized nearly 3 years ago by our fearless leader, song-figuring-out ninja, and popular Old Town School music instructor, Bobby G attempts to perform Wilco songs live.

When and Where?

Tonight (Oct. 5), starting around 7 p.m.

Old Town School of Folk Music @ 4544 N Lincoln

The Late Greats will play a couple of tunes as part the school's First Friday open house. It's the school's monthly open house/singalong/dance/party. Good times.

Friday Oct. 26, at 7 p.m.

Old Town School of Folk Music @ 909 W Armitage

The Late Greats will attempt to play straight through both A.M. and then Summer Teeth. Can we pull it off? Come find out. The Proto Punks open the show with their wacky punk rock stylings.

It's BYOB and no cover, so grab a six pack, kick back and enjoy the insanity!

Are You Serious?

We shit you not. We might be crazy, but we do exist.

I will try and make this. You're not attempting to play straight through anymore?

Our original goal was to play right through both albums. That would finish off our goal of performing all of the studio albums live from start to finish.

Unfortunately, we were short on time on this last show, so we decided that we'd cut back to spare our audience from having to sit through the ones that really need more rehearsal time.

So we've got about 13 songs on our list, all from A.M. or Summer Teeth.

Also, since we've now got both the Proto Punks and the Traveling Wilburys ensemble opening, the shorter set list should also make the show a more reasonable length. We probably go on around 8 or 8:30, with the Wilburys starting it off at 7.

In any case, it should be a good time. Just a big, free, BYOB, Wilco-appreciation party.
