Marijn
I know there are several film-related topics on this board, but this movie is so brilliant it deserves its own thread. Anyone seen it? Schultze is a retired lignite miner living in an East German village and a passionate Polka musician on his accordion. One night he listens to a Zydeco tune in the radio, which changes his taste of music radically. Notwithstanding his complete ignorance of the English language he starts a trip into the heart of the Zydeco; to Louisana. official site / imdb Best. Movie. Ever. gogo
I'd never heard of this movie, but as a fan of accordion music of all genres, I've added it to my queue.
Beltmann
Very good movie filled with deadpan humor--the compositions are always beautiful, but often surprisingly witty, too. Some people might find it slow as molasses, but I felt it unspooled at just the right speed and with just the right tone. And Schultze, a large, genial German, fills the frame as a memorable character.
Tweedling
Are there subtitles? If so I'll just read the book. (I liked the description)
