It's pretty lame that you can complete the hand crank and rolling log portions of The Eliminator faster if you fall off than if you actually complete the task. There should be a penalty for falling off that's tougher than simply climbing out of the pit and moving on.

I agree, they should have to try again, or at least get some time knocked off.

I actually said that exact thing to my girlfriend during the show last night. I think I recall that on the original series, they made you wait 10 or 15 seconds before climbing back up, but I may be imagining that.

Didn't they have Gladiators waiting below to "hold" them down there until they were allowed to climb back up? I can't quite remember. I do know that the inclined conveyor belt on the old series didn't have ropes to help the contenders climb up.

ESPN Classic has episodes of the original series on this evening at 7 and 10 (EST). The new show is on from 8 to 9.

 

 

 

Now I just have to figure out what I'm doing tonight between 9 and 10. :lol
