cryptique
I have no way of knowing whether this is true, but it's been suggested that the lull in violence comes as the insurgents are busy planning a major offensive. I certainly hope that's not true ... those folks deserve a little peace and quiet and security.
MrRain422
So everything is fine there now? Great, let's bring the troops home.
farva
This could have something to do with the Mahdi Army calling a six month truce at the end of August. Maybe.
Mr. Kinsley
Of course the surge is working. All the violence has shifted to northern Iraq. Besides, no matter how long we stay it doesn't matter - as soon as we leave that place will make Afghanistan's Taliban days look like the friggin' Boy Scout Jamboree.
