kathyp
I have a ten-year-old stereo that still sounds pretty good. I'd like to use my iPod with it. I'm assuming this is possible with some sort of adapter dohicky. What do I need to get?
Twisted Acres
maybe the cassette-to-1/8" plug that people used to get for their Discmans to work in their car stereo might do the trick? (if it has a cassette deck, that is) or, if there's an AUX channel, maybe you can plug this thingy into the rca inputs on the back and plug yer ipod into it:

hollow
I use the cassette adapter for my car (Audi still includes a cassette player - the adapter I'm using is about 15 years old, but works). For home, I have 2 different adapters - a Kensington one that also charges the iPod when docked, and a bare bones adapter that doesn't charge (and was cheaper). Both work just fine with both my audio receiver and with a set of basic monitor speakers (same speakers I use for my Roland keyboard). I also have an old (more than 10 years) receiver that either works with - but I'm not sure what type of stereo set-up you have (component or all-in-one).
