SquashedFrog
What's going on? Wilcoworld was auctioning off the opera box for each of the shows for charity. They had already auctioned off the Friday and Sat. shows and I had already put in a grand and was expecting on paying whatever for any of the shows next week. I even had friends planning on flying in if we won. Wake up this morning and get a note saying all auctions have been cancelled by eBay. This is total BS.

And it's one thing if they cancelled an auction (everyone that bid pays the price), but it's quite another if they ended the auction early and someone one. It sounds like it was the former. Chris_H_2
dude. they are only like 150 bucks from ticket brokers. If you can find me a ticket broker to sell me an opera box for $150, I'll take you and 4 of my other friends.
loraaw
http://wilcoworld.net/causes/index.php IMPORTANT NOTICE Due to circumstances beyond our control, the charity auctions we have been running through ebay have been cancelled by ebay. We are taking steps to restore them and will be posting an update shortly. We apologize for any inconvenience.

cryptique
It is GA. The venue has boxes up above the floor along the sides -- great view, comfortable, etc. That's what Wilco was auctioning.
ction
This might be the worst thing that Wilco's ever done to me, ever.

ction
they arent accessible for everyone? The auctions were shut down, so they aren't accessible to anyone.
Chris_H_2
they arent accessible for everyone? Nope -- they're off limits for everyone except VIPs and those on "the list."

Edie
You can keep your silly opera boxes. I prefer the sweat and grime of the great unwashed in the GA pit. First row of course, to minimize any actual touching of sweat and grime that is.

Happy to help out with a charity auction, and happy to be able to list "Wilco Tickets" as a write-off on my tax return!!!

Analogman
greetings all, sorry for the last minute nature of this, but we've had to change plans re: our Opera Box auctions for the 5 Chicago Riviera shows (which begin Friday). In what can only be described as an affirmation of the adage that "no good deed goes unpunished", the charity auctions have been cancelled (and not by us....). We had rogue bidders and a few other problems but have addressed them all and have now re-listed the items on eBay. The auctions for Friday and Saturday night's shows will end tomorrow, Friday, February 15 and the auctions for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday's shows will end on Sunday, February 17. The package includes 6 seats in a semi-private opera box at Wilco's show at the Riviera Theatre, plus a pair of signed posters and two Wilco t-shirts. We will be donating the funds raised here (plus additonal contributions) to assorted Chicago based charities, which will be listed on the charity page after the fact. Go to http://wilcoworld.net/causes/ for all of the details and to bid on these packages. hope to see you soon & sorry for the confusion.
