I'm The Man Who Loves You

Now that we have a confirmed source for the tuning, I figured I'd give it a try. It's a general version but I think it's fairly accurate if you can let your mind go beyond dashes and digits on a computer screen and just try to adopt that Tweedy shake to every note I've tabbed. I think there may be a little more going on in the chords of the verse, when he's even playing, so comments or fixes would be appreciated. Here's a start, at least...

This is based on any given live version circa 2003-2008.

 

This is Jeff's part only, tuned to Open E (low E B E G# B E high), with a capo at the 1st fret.

This is an often debated issue but supposedly Jeff has confirmed this tuning for the live versions.

 

This tab is written relative to the capo, so 3 is really the 4th fret on the guitar, if you ignore

the capo, but the 3rd fret if you consider the open strings 0.

 

I used this version as a bit of a visual guide for folks, to indicate timepoints in the tab

that are relative to a performance:

I also referenced the Residency night 4 FM broadcast.

 

I kind of cheaped out on the chords during the verse and chorus, so there's definitely room

to clean this up. Should be a good guide for the solo bits though!

K, Jeff really digs into the vibrato bar on this one, I'll try to sort of guide it out

but it's a lot of feedback manipulation and general intended sloppiness, with not as

much consistency during performances as the first solo, so y'know.. just rock out.

then pretty much get crazy, stay around the 10th and 12th frets. i don't want this to be one of those

tabs that cops out and says "get crazy and just stay around the 10th and 12th frets", but that's what

i'm gonna do based on the variety of different things jeff does during different performances of the song.

so polish up that pitch shifter, treble booster, and vibrato bar and shake some shit up!

 

At the very end of the song he slides up the fretboard slowly while furiously tremolo picking
