Happiechick
Who is going to the show in Rochester, MN on Wednesday April 30th? Has anyone ever been to the Mayo Civic Center? What kind of place is it? Where should we go before the show? I grew up near Mayo Civic Center and a lot of downtown Rochester has changed through the years, I can give you a few different choices... Close to MCC 1-PappaGeorge's a bar/restaurant (connected to Michael's restaurant) and walking distance from MCC, good food, kind of quiet... 2-Newts -216 1st Ave., a block west of broadway, my 71 year mother says it has the coldest beer and best burger in Roch. 3-my favorite (a bit farther from MCC) is the Redwood Room at 300 1st Ave. NW, it's in the basement of the restaurant 300 1st. They often have live music and might be open for an early dinner. great food. After the Show, you can walk to CJ's Midtown Lounge on broadway, I think it's a dive, but if I remember correctly, they have a DJ, etc. . Can't tell you much more, last time I was there was my wedding night and a bunch of us ended up there because it was the only place open until 2am. As I said, downtown Rochester continues to change a lot, but that is the most up to date list I can give you. Rochester folks are sooo friendly, you really could ask anyone on the street and they should be helpful. And regarding MCC, I don't find it to be the most charming venue. I have been spoiled in Chicago with venues like the Vic, etc. But Wilco will definitley put some charm into that place and town. I wish I was going, but I can't swing the trip home, so please post After the Show! Have a great time!
Knepps
I'll be there! Front row of the balcony! The last show I saw in the Mayo civic's presentation hall was BB King and for him the sound was fine, but I'm a little worried about how Wilco would translate in there. It's a very old room that houses around 4000ish seats, not really a bad seat in the house. The whole complex is connected to downtown via a skyway and if your wondering most parking ramps have FREE parking after 5pm. As for places to go if you want a beer and a burger then Newt's is a good choice (It also happens to be over City Cafe which is another good restaraunt). I really like the redwood room as well but like the last poster said its a bit of a walk from the Civic Center. If your just looking for a beer there is Kathy's Pub, CJ's, and Club Amsterdam (my favorite of the 3) right downtown on broadway just a few blocks from the civic center complex. That probably explains the mass quantities of tickets for sale on Ebay for the show. It will be interesting to see how close they come to filling it.

That pisses me off so much, I was second in line AT THE BOX OFFICE itself and the best I could get was front row of the balcony, not even the closest part either. I took them because I saw that the line next to me was selling row 20 floor seats to the FIRST person in line. It seems like they just operate a ticketmaster booth inside of the ticketbooth and don't even have some tickets for the venue itself to sell.

I didn't decide I was going for sure until just a few days ago. After getting mad at a broker's BS I checked Ticketmaster again today and got Section 1 Row 15 seats on the floor... so they must have released some just recently. Yeah.. it sucks that you can't go to the venue and get priority for your dedication and effort.
Knepps
Yeah well, there isn't too much we can do about it, at least my seats are still good!

H.Stone
That was incredible! Start a thread in "After the Show" and include a setlist, highlights, etc. That's how we live vicariously through one another on VC.
