Doug C
you have been calling me Colonel Ellsworth Fag behind my cyber-back. Not that you will immediately begin to do so, but have prior to this thread.

Doug C
reported? Reported for what? "paranoid"? No paranoia. I was telling a friend the story about changing my name. He started laughing and said, "You idiot. They are all laughing and calling you Colonel Ellsworth Fag". It sounded plausible. But judging by the lack of hands, I'd say that he was wrong. I was raised to believe that "if you ain't laughin', you ain't livin'". I am glad that talking with my buddy put the thread idea in my head. I got some livin' out of it. Doug C
Okay. Now I understand. I apologize if I offended anyone. That wasn't even remotely my intent. I don't use that word either. Though I do not need to do so, let me tell you a little about myself. I have worked with gay, lesbian and transgendered youth for over 10 years. For the last 10, I have been doing so as the faculty sponsor of the Gay/Straight Alliance at my school. I co-founded the GSA. We were the first one in my School District. It was somewhat of a major deal as there was quite a bit of resistance to GSAs at the time. There still is. Some schools that try to start a group either cannot find a faculty member willing to sponsor due to pressure from above, they meet community resistance, etc., etc. GSAs are affiliated with GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, a national organization dedicated to making all schools safe for GLBT students. This issue is very important to me. My wife and I changed the location of our wedding from Tampa to Strawberry Fields in NYC's Central Park so that my best friend, Paul and his husband, Shawn, could attend. They were too ill from Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome to travel that far. Though this made our wedding very small, there was no way we'd have chosen otherwise. Less than a year later Paul was dead. A couple of months after that, Shawn followed him home. My wife, mother - she loved Paul dearly -, and I with the help of a transgendered student of ours (my wife and mine), made a panel for The Quilt. We brought some panels of the quilt to schooland had an AIDS education week with guest speakers. I showed some video of Paul and Shawn and spoke about them. It culminated in formally presenting our panel to the NAMES project. The next year we brought Quilt panels back to our school that included Paul and Shawn's section.  In short, just as I was wrong to jump to a conclusion about what mardog meant by "FYI Uecker seats are the worst in the house", some of you are wrong in pre-judging my post. The context that I used "fag" inwas benign. Not that I needed to but I explained the situation to some GSA officers and ran it by GLBT friends. They all laughed. One of them said, "I can't believe that no one admitted calling you that. It was a softball. I know that it was knocked out of the park, admit it or not". Paul would have laughed his ass off. ction
Finished with my woman 'cause she COULDN'T HELP ME WITH MY MIND!!!!! This is probably sacrilege, but I think I prefer the Dickies cover of "Paranoid" to the original (which I also love). P.S. I find ellsworth to be an enigma, and I don't mean that as a racial slur.
bjorn_skurj
This is probably sacrilege, but I think I prefer the Dickies cover of "Paranoid" to the original (which I also love). That's not an unreasonable point of view.
Doug C
I know the internet can be confusing, but wasn't I the one who dubbed you the Col. Flagg of the board? You said,"Can we officially declare ellsworth the Colonel Flagg of the board?" I replied, "Hmm... I loved MASH. To my memory, though he provided much needed comic relief, he was always an 'unwelcome guest'." Then Phil Parma quoted me and said,"it's up to you. I can totally declare it and make it official." I then told him that I accepted. It seemed as though he was the one with the power to make it so, therefore this thread was to him. Harry Dean, it wasn't you at all. You said, "Col Flagg once watched 300 hours of the Three Stooges without cracking a smile.". This was an interesting MASH anecdote but it couldn't be interpreted as naming me the Colonel Flagg of the board.
