iTunes files volume conundrum

Recommended Posts

I don't know bit rates from Ving Rhames, all I know is when I'm listening to music (mostly noticeable on my iPod), one song/album is quiet as shit and the next is booming.

Example: U2's Achtung Baby, burned from a 1991 CD (192 kbps), is about half as loud as a The World's Rarest Funk 45s comp (224 kbps) that I have no idea where I got. ( :idontknow )

Is there anyway to even up the volume?

I'm asking mostly about my existing files, more than what do in the future - though that would be helpful too.

Many :monkey :monkey :monkey for any help, thanks.

If you select a track (or album) and click "get info", one of those tabs in that pop-up has a thing where you can boost the volume. On really old, poorly mastered cds I've ripped, I usually move the bar from 50% (default) to about 75%.

edit: i should note, this fix is for itunes. you'll need to delete the old version from your ipod after doing this and load the new version.
