So, I left my home town at 18 when I went to college. I've spent a few months there in the summer and visiting family. I haven't lived there in 15 years. Since then, I've graduated from two colleges, lived in 3 different cities and worked as a professional for almost a decade. I have a job interview in my home town on July 7th. I'm really torn. It could be a pay raise and definitely an increase in responsibility and varied experiences, but the city isn't very progressive and I think everything would be an uphill battle. My parents are getting older and it would be nice for my son to live near them and the cost of living is less than where I am now, but the quality of life is also much lower.

Has anyone else ever moved back to their home town after a long absence? Any advice?

Also, it's been 8 years since my last interview. I'm very rusty. Any general tips for my interview?

Wish me luck!

My experience has been that each individual interviewer is looking for something different. So I just try to be myself, be calm, research everything I can about the company and position, and sound confident. Generic advice, I know, but that's all I got. :) Good luck.

Act like you're interested in the job, even if you really aren't. Know something about the position you are interviewing for. Ask questions. I interview alot of people and my biggest complaint is the people who come in and have no idea what we do and don't even act like they care.

Good luck!
