IRememberDBoon
Let hear some stories. Sure seems like they would have been fun in their hey day

cryptique
I saw them three times on my college campus. The third time they had been rented for one student's birthday party, and they played the basement lounge of what had been my freshman dorm. I believe this was not too long after the release of Hang Time. I also believe I'm still a little deaf from that show, nearly twenty years later.

NightOfJoy
I saw them play a free show (or something silly like 3 bucks) in Dekalb IL at the Eagles Club on a Tuesday nite in 1987. Never heard of them before but the price was right so I dragged a few pals with--its not like we were busy studying or anything. They put on a fun, high energy, balls-out show for the 30 or so people in the room. I think the lead singer had really, really long hair that he liked to whip around-it looked pretty damn cool. I still recall that show as one of the best punk/alt shows I've seen. A bonus was that draft beers were sold 3 for a buck. Side note--I saw Naked Raygun, Blatant Dissent and a few other 'bigger' punk bands at this place too-the vets were very cool about hosting shows. I did see them once more at Cabaret Metro's 10th anniversary extravaganza in '91(?) but this show paled in comparision to the Eagles Club show.

mjpuczko
oh, and last time i saw them (july 20 something of this year), it was a mash up of great minneapolis bands! soul asylumthe mats (tommy on bass)prince (micheal bland on drums)
ih8music
The Ebony Rhythm Budda (Michael Bland) is the best drummer I've ever seen/heard in person - so if he's still backing Pirner and the boys, you have to check them out for him alone.
Oil Can Boyd
The first time I saw them (circa 1987) they said "we're probably not the best band you have ever seen but we are probably the loudest." They may have been right. The last time I saw them (circa 1991) was right before Grave Dancer's Union came out. I thought that they had seen better days and I remember telling my friend that it wouldn't surprise me if they broke up soon. Shows what I know ...
