A Mix Tape For The Nursery

Recommended Posts

This is a mix I made to play when we are trying to put our newborn down to sleep, or just hanging out with her!

The lonely 1 (chelsea walls version)

radio king

please be patient with me

sky blue sky

either way

say you miss me

(was i) in your dreams

why would you wanna live

nothing up my sleeve

leave me (like you found me)

what light

it's just that simple

should've been in love

pieholden suite

far, far away

someone else's song

theologians

the lonely 1 (being there version)

It works for us!!!

that's good for the most part...Personally, Theologians is a little driving for my tastes (since this is after all, a lullabye tape.) otherwise, you did a good job.

some other suggestions for an alternate mix tape (not all of these, just pick your favs I guess). These all relax me on some level musically; if you have a problem with a child hearing certain lyrical content, obviously a few songs like "She's a Jar" might be a little much. But these are all the ones I could think up that I find relaxing:

Black Eye

New Madrid

Passenger Side

Dash 7

Far Far Away

What's the World Got in Store

Blasting Fonda

The Lonely 1

California Stars

At My Window Sad & Lonely

One by One

Another Man's Done Gone

The Unwelcomed Guest

She's a Jar

We're Just Friends

How to Fight Loneliness

My Darling

When You Wake Up Feeling Old

In a Future Age

Remember the Mountain Bed

Someday Some Morning Sometime

Radio Cure

Jesus, Etc

Ashes of America Flags

Reservations

Cars Can't Escape

Venus Stopped the Train

Woodgrain

Bob Dylan's 49th Beard

More Like The Moon

Hell is Chrome

Muzzle of Bees

Wishful Thinking

Less Than You Think (live w/out the drone)

One True Vine

My six year old falls asleep every night to a mix cd consisting of Guided by Voices, Pavement, Ben Lee, and a couple other bands that I can't think of off the top of my head. Usually he's asleep by the time the Ben Lee songs are done and that's when it gets turned off.
