joshead
There are NO Jay Bennett tabs anywhere on the internet and only 1 on this message board. Does anyone know how to play any of the songs off of "the Palace at 4am" or "Bigger Than Blue" other than the Wilco stuff(ie-Cars Cant Escape, Venus Stopped the Train)? Im thinking Puzzle Heart, California, etc. any help is much appreciated.

You know, I wrote out the chords for California because I thought the progression was so interesting. I know I have it at home, so I'll track it down and post it. Puzzle heart goes something like this: Verse (I can't remember any of the lyrics): I now my heart's laid [E]outon the table before my [F#m]eyesPieces every color shape and [A]sizeIt's only missing [E]you And so on Chorus (I really don't remember any of the lyrics): And I [C#m]hope this letter finds you solving[A] Puzzles of your ownMaking [C#m]sense of all the good and bad times[A] you and I have known If you [C#m]see me something something something[A] I'll be there to [Am]startHelp you put [E]back the pieces of your puzzle [E]heart This is completely from memory, so I cannot immediately vouch for its accuracy, but it sounds alright in my head. Also, the [Am] might not happen in every chorus; I can't remember. I'll fix this and add California later tonight!
ginandcigarettes
Okay, wrong key, but right chord relationships! Here's the first verse and chorus of Puzzle Heart: I think I found the [D]pieceThe piece of my [Em]puzzle heartI lost it when we [G]fell apartYester[D]day [Dsus4] [D] I got down on my kneesI took the other [Em]99But until now I could [G]never find the one that rolled a[D]way [Dsus4] [D] I found [bm]it when I was [A]sweeping up [G]all our broken dreamsAnd I [bm]put in a [A]little box and [G]hid it carefullyBut [bm]on this sunny [A]Sunday after[G]noon I finally startTo put [D]back the pieces [A] of my puzzle [D]heart [Dsus4] [D] It goes on like this for a while and then there's that part where it repeats the line and it goes like this: But [bm]on this sunny [A]Sunday after[G]noon I finally [Gm]startTo put [D]back the pieces [A] of my puzzle [D]heart [D7] [G]To help you put [D] back the pieces [A] of your puzzle [D]heart [D7] [G]To put [D]back the pieces [A] of our puzzle [D]hearts [Dsus4] [D] And back to verse chords. Fade out if you can. I can tab some of the little Jay licks should you like. Stay tuned for more!
ginandcigarettes
Whispers or Screams (well, the first verse and chorus at least) Intro:[G] [Am] [F] [C][G] [Am] [F] [C] Verse:Now you

ginandcigarettes
Good job, joshead, on Drinking on Your Dime. I think the chorus is almost there, but it seems like there are a few more chords. Try this: Cause [A] I'm still [E]waiting for [D]songs to be written[C#]Songs I know you’ll never hear[F#m] Don’t you think that I already [E]know [E7] All at [A]once I'm so [E]shy for [G]ever being [D]bitten[C#]it's a seed but I hope that you know [F#m] that we can't let it [E] grow [E7] After that it gets a little unclear in my mind. I think it goes to C, then to a loop of B, D, D/C
ginandcigarettes
Haha. I didn't realize that this thread was just a conversation between the two of us. Know any other songs? Any that you or anyone wants tabbed?
joshead
I was thinking of tabbing "Like a Photograph" later. I did attempt "Charming and Plastic" earlier and it proved kinda difficult, lots o chords.

I did attempt "Charming and Plastic" earlier and it proved kinda difficult, lots o chords. I think I know 'Like a Photograph' in more than just chord symbols form (actual tablature). Lemme see if I can write that out. It starts with a G chord on capo 3, if I remember correctly.

joshead
Not completely finished. If anyone can understand the lyrics better than I, go for it. At first I capo'd it but soon realized it doesnt matter. Anyway, this is relative to capo at the 2nd fret: Mirror Ball CAPO 2 G BmHe’s always standing next to the cigarette machineIn a halo of neon blue and green D C G CG The cocaflinks(?) reflects the spinning mirror ballThe kaleidoscope of color showers on the wallD C G CG F DI try to shield my eyes from his magnificence but there’s no defense for me A C#m Every Friday night hes here to make the sceneI’m here to pour the drinks, so he never talks to meE D A A lock of hair just falls discreetly out of placeAnd it casts a perfect shadow across his faceE D A G EAnd all the stars are falling from the sky as he walks by B A G D ATonight hell hit the stageHoping to amaze us with his bow reflecting sound Cm (walk down) Bb C C/B EmBut no one understands any significance and so he remains by the cigarette machine(repeat first verse)G
