CommerceComet
Here's the story:http://newsok.com/for-lips-a-beautiful-mom...article/3350013 Look to the right, where reporter Gene Triplett also lists his 5 favorite Oklahoma-related songs, including "Airline to Heaven." That may be a bit of a stretch, but still cool.

CommerceComet
Well, never mind. Republicans in the Oklahoma House voted the resolution down today. So embarrassing. The second guy quoted below is my rep. I might just have to run against him next year. Rep. Corey Holland, R-Marlow, debated against the resolution, saying he was bothered one of the band members wore a red T-shirt with a yellow sickle and hammer on it when The Flaming Lips came last month to the Capitol when results of an online voting contest showed their song to be the clear-cut winner. "I was really offended by that," Holland said. Rep. Mike Reynolds, R-Oklahoma City, also spoke against the measure, saying the band has a reputation for using obscene language, recalling band members used offensive language several years ago when the city of Oklahoma City named an alley after the band. "Their lips ought to be on fire," Reynolds said.http://newsok.com/oklahoma-house-votes-dow...ead_story_title

Sir Stewart
Great effing tune - and that footage of the announcement and the Lips' shaking hands in victory is just awesomely surreal.

tugmoose
You know the notoriously shy, retiring Wayne Coyne must be hating all this attention.
