jcroach
Bill Janovitz (of Baffalo Tom and Crown Victoria) has a nice blog where he posts "covers of the week". This week is the Grateful Dead's "Brown-Eyed Woman". He give a quick Wilco shout out in the introduction. And the band seems to be a weirdly guilty pleasure for others, like we have to explain why they were so great. But Elvis Costello has always been unabashed in professing his love of the band. Graham Parker (not Parsons) even covered Jerry Garcia’s “Sugaree” in recent years. And I certainly hear a lot of Dead in Wilco and, of course, Ryan (not Brian) Adams. Oil Can Boyd
It's a great blog. The first time I saw Wilco (Camden Maine July 2000) Janovitz was the opener.
bold99
that is cool...I live near Boston and I see Bill all the time. Actually he sat right next to me at an M Ward show which was pretty cool. He does a residency at bar near me and he couldn't be a nicer guy.

They are playing a show in Boston soon...great band but I'm actually loving his solo stuff that he's been playing lately.
MeDave
billy is quite often referencing wilco in his blog - always has them on his playlists of things he listened to that day (when he lists such) and yes - to agree with the above - as big an impact on my life as buffalo tom have had (easily in my top 5) the crown vic/solo shows he does at toad and the lizard lounge here in cambridge are not to be missed and almost more vital and exciting the bufftom - 3+ hour afairs with amazing covers, great originals and the occasional BT songs thrown in as well. absolutely great shows. i can't highly enough recomend checking one out if you're ever in town when he's playing. I agree.....also I saw him sit in with Session Americana at the Lizard Lounge...one of the best sets i've seen. He tore it up, he was doing chuck berry and Petty covers. Session Americana is a little treasure in Cambridge, those guys can play anything.
bold99
actually now that I read the whole post on the blog he is actually talking about Session Americana when he mentioned the whole Dead/Wilco thing. that is really cool. I'll have to read his blog from now on.
