Fantastic Review of 7/3/00 show Camden, ME

Recommended Posts

I just read a post that referenced a Wilco show in Camden, Maine back in 2000 which surprised me as it is a teeny town and a tiny venue, (and near my hometown) so I Googled it (of course) and found a concert review posted last year that really captures the chemistry of the band with the Bennett/Croomer/Bach line-up and also the on- and off-stage persona of pre-rehab Jeff Tweedy.

The writing is excellent; Brian Robbins, if you're on here, well done.

You can find it here http://www.jambands.com/Features/content_2008_07_22.02.phtml. Enjoy.

That is a nice write up. It was my first Wilco show and it was a great one. Up until that point, I was a fan but not a huge one. I had all of the albums but they hadn't really grabbed me yet. But in Camden, by the time they were halfway through the opening song (Airline to Heaven) I knew I had a new favorite band.

Wonderful job capturing the energy and uniqueness of that lineup, and I learned at one point Tweedy wanted to call "I'm The Man Who Loves You" Laminated Cat. Also, man I miss Jay Bennett.

WOW. Just Wow. That may have been one of the if not the best concert review I have ever read. Bravo Brian. Amazing piece of writing. I felt like I was a part of a era of Wilco I so sadly never saw live. However after reading that I kind of fell like I just saw them.

Uh... that link doesn't work for me. Anybody else hit a dead end or do I just need to take my laptop out of the bathtub?

:D

Hmm.... maybe this URL will work?

http://www.jambands.com/Features/content_2008_07_22.02.phtml (the URL shouldn't have a period at the end)

If not, just google Wilco and July 3, 2000 and that should yield the jambands.com review.

Oh, and I heard from the author that he is working on a review of Wilco(The Album) which should appear on jambands.com right around the album release date...
