JessieOK
I have a real good pal who is a HUGE music buff like myself. We agree on 99.9% of all bands, however he cannot get into Wilco. The thing that pains me is he loves bands such as Ryan Adams, Radiohead, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Dead. I would imagine if you were into that combo of bands you would HAVE to at least appreciate some Wilco At least according to Pandora. This is a pretty typical run of artists if you put Wilco on Pandora!

I would imagine if you were into that combo of bands you would HAVE to at least appreciate some Wilco That's like the circle around the point. Weird. I've given up converting people to Wilco because my success rate has been terrible, like maybe 5% of the people. But in my snobbishness I would give them straight up albums to listen to, not mixes. Just how I work. I'd probably show BT first as it's the most accessible, but in any case if they are into more experimental genres I'd start with YHF. Pick a starting point based on the person's tastes.
anthony
I think Summerteeth is the perfect record to start people off with. There is something for everyone on that record. "How To Fight Loneliness" is what won over my spouse.
mountain bed
Hi, this is my first post here - it's a pleasure to be on the boards!Had a great couple of Wilco recruitment days recently.Took three people to see their headline slot at Green Man, two of whom had never before heard them. There was a lot of hugging, high-fiving and I believe the phrase 'They're obviously the best band in the world' after the set.Result! Then took a very hard to please friend to the Troxy show who had heard but was not fond of YHF (!!!) - suitably blown away they now have tickets for the next London show.I'm thinking that just dragging people to a show is the definitive way to 'convert' the uninitiated. I get so frustrated with making compilations or spotify lists that people say they will 'get around to eventually'.Am trying to get as many friends as possible to that next london show at the forum - was even considering an 'I will buy your ticket and if you dont like it don't pay me' policy. Sounds risky but I don't think it is really.Nice to meet you, peoples!I love this post. Welcome, man! I can't tell you how many people I turned into Deadheads by dragging them to a live show. There's nothing like seeing the band live - you get the 'adult dose' in that regard. Btw, I ended up turning all of my family (wife 40, kids 24,21 & 18) into Wilco freaks. Now the problem is trying to locate 5 tickets (or more) instead of just 1!
