henrybainbridge
Hi there, I'm coming out to the US from England in a few weeks to see my girlfriend who is currently working in Chicago. Not sure if this an unnecessarily nerdy request but I wanted to try and spend an afternoon doing a 'Wilco tour' i.e - early gigging venues, places where songs are about, recording studios/practice spaces, album covers etc.Don't need to get in anywhere, just want to see where they all are.Does anyone have any suggestions of where I could visit? Thanks! Henry.
uncool2pillow
Apparently, the location of the Wilco loft is a poorly kept secret, but taboo to bring up here. You'd definitely want to see the Riviera, site of last year's residency and the Vic, where Kicking Television was recorded.

Band members have played in nearly ever club in town, not just the Riv. Talk bout Marina Towers is on this thread, etc. Go over there and ask. LouieB

Wendy
I added a few ideas in the Chicago thread for things that are Wilco-specific. Head on over there (and yes! I did have Superdawg in my suggestions! ) http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/35877-going-to-chicagowhat-to-do-see-stay-etc/page__view__findpost__p__1369443 So please head on over there and let's post some more ideas but keep them in one place for future reference. LouieB
I know its taboo to ask about the location of the Loft and all of that, so I'm not going to ask. But what I'm curious about is -- do groupies/crazed fans/whatever who do know where it is hang out? Try to give things to the band? Get autographs?I have never seen anyone hanging out there. It is not like the band is there all the time. I have driven by innumerable times on my travels around Chicago and it is not somewhere that would be all that fun to hang out for along time, although it is not in a "bad" neighborhood.
