Edie
We'll be lighting the Menorah. I don't care what anyone says, Sandler's Hannukah Song is hilarious.

Guest Jules
Why are there different spellings?
OOO
I think when you translate from languages that have different alphabets and have sounds that aren't pronounced in English, translators disagree with how to spell it with our alphabet. I believe the word is supposed to start with a very throaty raspy H, but who knows.
uncool2pillow
Here, enjoy this Hannukah song from a conservative Republican / Mormon Senator from Utah. Written for his Jewish constituency. All 4 of them. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=121240561
LouieB
Why are there different spellings?I know.... This is called transliteration, not an actual spelling which would be in Hebrew characters. It's just like - is it the Koran or the Quran or is it Bejing or Peking. When a word is spelled in someone else's alphabet there is no real spelling in another language. On the box of Chanuka candles I just bought yesterday (incidently make in China where most are made now...) THAT's how it is spelled, not Hanukah or Chanukkah or something more standard. The Chinese weren't wasting a single letter. LouieB
