bböp
An 11 p.m. curfew once again probably curtailed the set a little early, but a lot of variety for people who also went to the Portland show the previous night. One funny thing right off the top, for those who attended any shows last year when they played the "synthesizer" (MIDI?) band intros, tonight they weaved those into the middle of Wilco (the song). Not sure if it was an accident, as in Glenn hit the wrong spot on his sampler pad (my guess is it was planned) but at any rate, the band rolled with it and it was pretty hilarious. Mid-set, Jeff announced it was a special night because it was tour manager Jason Tobias' birthday. As per tradition, he then had the crowd sing "Happy Birthday" to him. It wasn't too pretty. Anyway, Jeff made the comment that Jason was turning 34 but had worked for the band since he was 14. Haha. Also, nice to see Bill Frisell come out and take a couple of leads on California Stars. I think he was more confident than when he played on it at the Marymoor Park show a few years back. Nels was urging him on from across the stage. mollyegan
SUCH a fantastic show! They sounded terrific. J.T. was really chatty, I thought. I loved the sing-a-longs...and I think they would have played quite a bit longer if they could have. I am so sad that I wasn't able to make it to Portland...last minute stuff prevented me. Tonight certainly left me happy, though!
auctioneer69
Another great show. Nice to be indoors after seeing them last outdoors in Berkeley. Opening sequence between "Wilco The Song and Radio Cure" was brilliant. Stage-set and lighting were excellent. Thought the crowd took awhile to get warmed up. Band seemed relaxed and Jeff in particular looked to be having a blast. Pretty talkative. But think it's a slight weight for him when the crowd expect him to be funny. Version of "Broken Arrow" was spot-on. "Box Full of Letters" and "Hoodoo Voodoo" were a great one-two punch to end the night. Think the set-list was probably longer but curfew meant Wilco ended just after 11 after starting right about at nine. By the end the band looked ready to play all night. It was fun only being 30 feet back from the stage standing. Very minor quibbles. Singalong version of "Jesus etc" isn't my cup of tea. "I'll Fight" doesn't shine live. Overall, a really fun rockin' show. Friend who went with me who had never seen Wilco before loved it. Friends from Portland who saw last night's show appreciated the more rocking show tonight. Overall. Fantastic. Wilco one of the best live bands. Nels Cline amazing as always. Musicianship just terrific throughout the show. So many textures and so much variety. Time for bed. newbornghost
Agreed with previous reviews that this show was excellent. The band carried a really high energy level all the way to 'Jesus, etc', but the sing-a-long kept the crowd into it at that pt. There was definitely a great vibe between crowd and band. 'Theologians' was the peak, in my estimation. Broken Arrow was really impressive, and it was very cool that they brought Bill Frissell on stage (joking that he had always been 'the 7th member of Wilco') for CA Stars. Bummer about the curfew, because you could tell the band still had plenty in the tank. I was highly revved up for this show, and I was not the least bit disappointed. Pat Loughery
Anybody know if there were any tapers at the show? I hope so. I also noticed that the stage had audience noise mics set up. I'm not sure if the band usually records shows, but you only do that if you're planning to record a live set and include crowd noise so that it doesn't sound so sterile at the board.. barnyard pimp
Wonderful show!! I'm so glad my concerns from seeing the first 2 sets were alleviated when they added 'Wilco' 'I'll Fight' and 'You Never Know' into the set. Hope to catch 'Sonny Feeling' and maybe even 'Country Disappeared' at one of the BC shows. The whole run in the middle of the set (Break Yr Heart, One Wing, Radio Cure, Pot Kettle Black, Handshake Drugs, Deeper Down, Impossible Germany..okay, every song?) was just electrifying. Stellar solo on 'Germany', as always. Was very delighted to hear 'Radio Cure'. Set list had 'Red-Eyed', 'I Got You', and 'Casino Queen' before 'Hoodoo' but alas, curfew voodoo. "Hoodoo" was amazing though, Nels and Pat's duel never grows old. Jeff seemed happy with the standing room general admission on the floor/seats in the balcony arrangement. Hope he's not disappointed tomorrow in Victoria, which is all seated (and will likely not be a wild crowd). Hope my hometown proves me wrong...

Had a hunch they might play it as it was listed in the top three requests on the Wilco website. If there's anyone from the band organisation reading this board make my dream come true for Victoria (I imagine BBOP could be part of the roadcrew 'cos he seems to report after almost every show). barnyard pimp
I'd say "I Got You" is probably a safe bet for Victoria. As for the top request, however.... Let's just say I have my own dreams.
Lodestar
I've seen the band four times, but I've never anticipated a show like tomorrow night's in Victoria, my hometown. I'm moving overseas on Monday, and I can't think of a more perfect send-off than having the guys here. I'm so excited I'm nervous.

Marianne
I loved the Seattle show, my first Wilco show. I wrote a review with some pix and three videos (decent sound quality!) here: http://diarrheaisland.blogspot.com/2010/02/will-happily-comply-wilco-in-seattle.html It was a real pleasure to be in such a great crowd, too...what a night! Pastor Tim
Anybody know if there were any tapers at the show? Yes, Matt, there was at least one taper at the show, though I don't know when the recording will circulate. A friend of mine has it and I should have a copy before long, but I don't know what format either -- hoping for FLAC but I'll take what I can get just because my brother and his girlfriend were at the show and I'd like to give it to them. Color Me Impressed
Hey Seattle-ites - can someone explain to me the reason for a curfew at an indoor venue in downtown Seattle? Having lived there back in the 80's, I remember bands not even going on until 11 at the Paramount. What's the story?
