PopTodd
She became such a joke at some point: Her marriages. Her weight. The drugs. Her generally zany persona. But there is no arguing Liz' talent or beauty in her time. This is a huge loss for Hollywood, if only for the history that she represents.Rest in peace.LINK
GtrPlyr
She sure did some great films back in the day, was also one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood in her prime.
gogo
Yeah, she was fucked up in a way that probably wasn't helped by being a child star, but she seemed to be a decent person. Her charity work was impressive, and she got right out in front with AIDS, way quicker than a lot of other people.
embiggen
a legend in her own time and she always got what she wanted that's for sure. a true beauty.
Mr. Heartbreak
I'm glad I'm not the only one whose first thought was this: http://blog.buckeyepayroll.com/?p=7289 My favorite Elizabeth Taylor moment is not very flattering to her. It was the skit John Belushi did as Elizabeth Taylor while eating a chicken. I can’t find it anywhere but I think it ranks as one of Belushi’s best skits ever, and that is saying a lot. Sir Stewart
^Same here Mr. Heartbreak. RIP and all but the first thing I thought of was Bill Murray saying "as long as you don't gain so much weight it covers up those beautiful blue eyes I first fell in love with in National Velvet." Edie
I can't remember if I've told this story before, but here it is. My husband "met" her in Hollywood in the '70s. He was on his way to a bar in the late afternoon, and there just happened to be filming on the same street. Liz was being filmed getting out of a car and then talking to someone on the sidewalk. My husband needed to cross the street to get to the bar, so he asked one of the assistant directors or someone to let him know when it was OK to cross. When he got the thumbs up, he began to cross, but just then, Liz turned around and headed right for him. Even though the scene was over, she was still "on" so when they crossed paths near enough that he could have touched her, she looked right at him and said "Disappear". So he did.
