Magnetized
Excellent review, and it sounds like an amazing time. I would love to see these two bands together. I know Arcade Fire is in Chicago tonight--anyone going?
virtualreason
I was at all three Chicago shows. Words cannot describe how amazing that run was. The Arcade Fire and The National are two of my favorite bands, and this dream twin bill did not disappoint for a second. Both bands kept upping their game with each successive night. The first song The National played Friday was Runaway, so it kinda started off very slowly. However, by the time they left the stage each night, EVERYONE was moving around and amped for Arcade Fire. I can't wait to see The National headline tonight in Milwaukee! I personally think Radiohead and Wilco are THE two best live bands around now, however Arcade Fire is about to bust through the wall Janet Reno style. This band is at the top of their game right now. If you can see them this tour, and I know there are only a few dates remaining in North America, DO IT NOW! Everyone is smiling and having fun on stage, and the production value is very high for an "indie" band. Anyone who is a fan of music, and within a day's drive, should make an effort to see this tour. After the international run this summer, they will likely disappear and start working on their next masterpiece. One of the Chicago radio stations webcast Sunday's show, so there is a good quality boot out there somewhere. I HIGHLY suggest finding it. I might post more later, but I have to scoot down to the Riverside for The National (and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart...another band that is on a quick rise!). TemplePilot
I agree. I saw Arcade Fire with Okkervil River in Dallas over the weekend and it was outstanding.
