tinnitus photography
Todd, if you like this you may also want to check out Tinariwen if you haven't already. or even better... check out Sublime Frequencies, the label run by Alan Bishop (Alvarius b, Sun City Girls) and Hisham Mayet...they have discovered and released a very wide array of music from all over the place, and put out the first Bombino record. Ghost of Electricity
I would assume you know Ali Farka Toure, but I'll mention him just in case. And though it's less stylistically similar, Mansour Seck (Baaba Maa's guitarist) has two solo records on a label called Stern's Africa which are both fantastic. worldrecordplayer
Saw Bombino at JazzFest last year (or was it the year before?) on a friend's recommendation. Wasn't familiar with his music, his set was outstanding. See him if you get a chance.
