You are so right. They sound just like a pretty good bar band with a decent  rhythm section. The big difference was all those extraordinary original songs. And, to me anyway, the voice of that lead singer.  :blush So raw and yet direct and warm.

Never listened to that first show before.  Love that they started it all with I Must Be High-my ringtone! :guitar

It was during this show's performance they launched into 'Dueling Banjos' in the middle of 'Casino Queen'.

 

They did that "Dueling Banjos" jam a lot during the Being There tour and on the Summerteeth tour, too!

It's fun to hear, though the recording quality is just ok from that first show. Listen to the Fox Theatre show in Boulder, Colo., 5/25/1995 -- that's probably the best one out there from the A.M. days.
