Albert Tatlock
Just got wind of this and tuning in (or whatever the equivalent is on a PC). Good exposure with a fairly intelligent and knowledgeable DJ Lauren Laverne, unlike the last time JT was on BBC radio. Will type any highlights ... http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04ncxsn
Albert Tatlock
"She's such a badass" ... "I almost felt sorry for cancer" "I can sleep with my head in a kick drum" So it's now 12:14. I caught literally the last minute of some chat before she played Pavement (Stereo). If she started at 12:00 I'm thinking maybe it's all over already, but she just said they're back after Neil Young (Plastic Flowers) and the news. That might be the live session. Albert Tatlock
Meanwhile, also in London. One ceramic poppy for every British soldier who died in WW1. That's about 880,000, part of an art installation. Volunteers haev spent months putting it up ready for Remembrance Day. Each one has been sold @ £25 for charity. As The Flamin' Groovies Shake Some action plays before we go back to TWEEDY.
Albert Tatlock
Some mention of Wilco - 20 years "not so much a celebration as a reflection". "Still room to grow and territory to explore".Wilco winterlude - "alot of deep cuts", "we just did something similar in NY".Wilco album plans - "a little bit has already been done" "exploratory sessions" "get together in February is the plan".TWEEDY - "Spencer and I on our last break " ... "sequenced and put together another record".Mostly JT doing the chatting. Low Key playing now in session by the full TWEEDY band. Plenty of good news there then. Magnetized
Nice! Thank you for posting. I didn't get to hear it live but I appreciate the excerpts.
Albert Tatlock
That's all folks. I get the feeling they may have opened with another track that I missed. Can check out BBC iPlayer later to see if that's true.
Albert Tatlock
Well, TWEEDY are doing a good job of pimping themselves around the BBC.Apparently on BBC Radio2 on Saturday 3pm but presumably also recording today or something. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04lnzqj The bad news is that it's Dermot O'Leary again - the guy who did a stumbling job of pretending to know what he was talking about the last time JT was on BBC Radio2. He hosts the UK X-Factor. 'Nuff said.
Magnetized
TWEEDY - "Spencer and I on our last break " ... "sequenced and put together another record". Good lord, this is amazing!
Albert Tatlock
Available for listening here. Don't know if that works for non-UK folks. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p029z8qv There was also a very short interview on London Live (a sort of local London TV channel owned by a Russian oligarch) - nothing of interest other than mention of fish and chips & wagamama. http://www.londonlive.co.uk/news/2014-11-03/fish-and-chips-with-jeff-tweedy
Albert Tatlock
First part of the interview that I missed this morning - discussion of Low Key video, admiration for the sidecar, first track in session is Summer Noon (so they went with the 2 pop belters), the solo album evolution - Mavis mention and Spencer DNA usual sort of discussion, Spencer should be at a toga party or something (did "Jello shots with Mavis" to feel like a spring break "Mavis and Yvonne in a hot tub" - said Spencer, to which JT replied/gently reprimanded "Easy"), meaning of Sukierae and family health issues, and that's where I started listening this morning. Albert Tatlock
Saturday: New Moon & Lover Like a Wire (JT & ST only not full band) http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02bf4g3 Interview not as painful as list time JT was on the same show. No news of significance.
