rareair
i am really enjoying the stream of this (Then Came The Morning) on npr and bought the album today. Anyone familiar with this band? a member of the national produced. I highly recommend checking out the first listen before it goes away.
marino13
Their first album was hit or miss for me, but then I saw them do a 3 song live radio gig at a little cafe last year and was very impressed. The fact that Aaron Dessner produced and wrote the horn and string arrangements has me very excited for the new album. I picked it up but haven't listened yet. They were pretty great on Letterman last night too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8A_6gKFItwc

calvino
My wife's friend bought her a ticket to a show at small theater in Chicago - it was around Jan,2014 - she knew nothing about them prior to the show - she said it was a great, great show. They ran into the band before the show in front of the theater and had a nice chat.

About a decade ago I was always wondering why more people weren't playing music in that spirit, apparently some other people wondered, and decided to get something going. I keep hearing R&B/Soul throwback sounds in indie bands these days.
