NoJ
Yesterday I was thinking about Poplar Creek, a local outdoor shed in the NW suburbs of Chicago that closed back in the early 1990s and I had a realization. I saw so many concerts there in the summer of 1989.... Metallica and the CultAllman Bros and Little FeatBob DylanNeil Young and Maria McKeeJerry Garcia Band and RatdogJefferson Airplane and Hot TunaStevie Ray Vaughn and the Stray CatsTom Petty and the Heartbreakers and The Replacements along with a dozen Grateful Dead shows all over the Midwest during the spring and summer tours. This is not counting all the concerts I saw at Metro, Lounge Ax, Batteries Not Included and other small venues. How did I have the time for this? Where did the money come from? Who accompanied me? Why cant I do this now?! Anyways.....what's your BIG year for concert going?
remphish1
I think it was 2000? I saw 92 concerts in that one year ! Now I average a more manageable 50 or so a year!
Lammycat
I saw 30 GD shows alone in '88 plus probably 25-30 other non-GD shows the same year (Taj Mahal, Pink Floyd, Phish, etc.).

NoJ
That Neil Young show was great, supporting his Freedom album. By total chance, I received a first gen recording of that concert a few months afterwards from a kid I worked with whos dad recorded the show.
remphish1
NoJ my record was 8 shows in 7 days that year? I think? This June I have potentially 10 shows (June is always my busiest month)? (Albiet currently I have tickets for 7 of those shows).
