Mr. Heartbreak
I read all his plays when I was in college. Was kind of stunned not long after when I found out he was an actor too! Truly a great.
Oil Can Boyd
Very nice tribute from Patti Smith: http://www.newyorker.com/culture/culture-desk/my-buddy-sam-shepard
Sir Stewart
That was good. Man some people are just inclined not to waste any time.
uncool2pillow
I feel bad I really don't know the first thing about his plays. The Right Stuff is an all-time favorite movie. I know Lou Reed name-dropped him on "Doin' the Things That We Want To". I never took to reading plays and never recall having the opportunity to see one of his performed. Sir Stewart
His stories are all I've read. Check out Cruising Paradise if you want.
Mr. Heartbreak
On the plays, a good place to start is this book: Seven Plays (Buried Child, Curse of the Starving Class, The Tooth of Crime, La Turista, Tongues, Savage Love, True West)
