  1. Dear ****cough cough*** Boss,

I don't feel ***cough cough*** so well....

    I need me some WILCO!

Hurray for the 9:30 Club shows!!!

Is this a definite addition? Can someone tell me exactly where and when it was posted?? EXACTLY IS THE WORD!

Need to know for SURE....FO SHO!!!

And what a birthday week it will be for Isadorah!!!

Well...it's in the middle of the freaking work week so this may call for a **cough cough** sick day. :shifty

    anyway,

    dcd

Would love to meet your brother; send him our way...we'll be there....FOR SURE!

    Vanessa and Mike

Thanks for the heads-up ... I'm going to start trying to con my brother in the D.C. area into going to his Wilco show, because I'm pretty sure he'd dig it.
  2. I loved this show as well and totally agree with you about the "expectations".....You are so right about being able to see the entire band work together from a nice distance....

I saw all the pusing and shoving going on....and honestly it really bummed me out.....I liked to think that Wilco fans...and especially the very loyal folks who frequent shows would allow perhaps one "pogo stick" dancing (Spiders) YOUNG PERSON to come on through and enjoy the energy of his favorite song without the hassle of being aggressively pushed (and odd how some enjoy the thought that he hit the stage "hard") ....or at the very least....just TELL THEM to get out of your PERSONAL SPACE---which by the way---we all payed the same for and it was GENERAL admission...

I don't like drunken slobs on me...or others blocking my view......but I don't believe in shoving or pushing...that ruins the positive energy for everyone....it just sucks.

The show was awesome and how lucky we all were to see it!

It may be our last one for a very long while.....

Love the pictures by the way!

you know with a couple days to think about it, I still really loved the Charlottesville show. Sure, while basking in the post show glow we all think we just saw the best show ever played. In this case, it probably wasn't *the* best I have seen out of 30+ Wilco, 3 Uncle Tupelo & 4-5 Tweedy solo but certainly the longest and in the top few I have seen. As the show started slowly with a beautiful Sunken Treasure I thought what other band would or could pull one of the slowest slowest songs in their catalogue to open a general admission open floor show with a boisterous crowd & then just nail it! Jeff seemed to serve notice that he was gonna own the crowd & you could hear a pin drop as Nels started filling in teh spaces with the lap steel. Things were a little loose here & there for a while afterwards but the band was clearly having fun & digging a very appreciative crowd. Not the best or most lively Handshake I have heard but it was crisp and for once the set didn't need that song to be a anchor. Impossible Germany picked up steam afterwards, and once we got past Hummingbird (which has always been the pee break song for me) I thought the momentum picked up & stayed that way through the end. For me the 2nd encore took it from a good show to a great one and coming back out for Spiders when they had already played almost 2 1/2 hours sealed it.

Maybe others had or have different expectations but all of mine were met & exceeded. I also think where you see a show from has a lot to do with how you perceive it. I know plenty of people really want to be up front against the stage but I personally have never understood why. Its one of the worst places for the sound since you are generally hearing small fill speakers planted down front instead of the actual PA system that Stan is dialing in. Likewise you don't get a full visual appreciation for all of the interaction between all of the band on stage and I think you lose some of the "feel" for the show. I also think you have to expect the liklihood or at least the potential for hassles down that close. All the signs were there: You're in a spot (ie: closest to the band) that lots of other people want to be in, its a Sat. night, an outdoor amphitheater with no seats, an open floor & GA seating, a college town, etc.......... We taped from about 25 feet back dead center and had no assholes around us, just a racous but appreciative crowd.

    Ok, here's a few pics

  3. Wow! Thanks! :cheekkiss

I'm glad we decided to take her...she's been singing Wilco songs ever since I told her!

(I thought perhaps I was "adjusting" her birthday to fit "my WILCO needs" if ya know what I mean!---but I REALLY think she is psyched to go!)

    Come and meet us there!

No SEVEN is not to young :dancing seven is a good age to remember ya know...

What a wonderful birthday she will have to remember...

I use to take my kids (and everybody elses) to shows from diapers on up and still today...

I remember my folks taking me to shows at such a young age and from the stories I'm told I wish

I could remember all of them... :worship

I'd love Charlottesville but its alot more than 3 hours for me and Nola I'm to scared to go by myself...

Hope ya'll have a blast at the show!! Hope your daughter has a lovely birthday too!! :cheekkiss

  4. I hear your sadness....

After reading the WILCO HQ update my husband and I decided to trek to the Charlottesville show (three hours--not bad!) and take

our daughter with us...it's ON her birthday...and she will be SEVEN on that day!

Glad it's outside under the stars...hoping there will be other kids there! She is very excited!

Anyone else ever take a young one to a show?

    Is SEVEN too young?

After reading the wilco update email I can't help but be sadden :ohwell

"Touring will slow down except for the shows lined up already"....

and Georgia ain't in that list... (nothing close enough to drive too)

Been hoping for some shows, JT or band, for holidays or whatever....

Guess I'm just shit out of luck for the rest of the year... :ermm

Better luck next year I guess, hope to see more than 3 shows next year...

I guess I'll be rockin' in the new year with drivin' n' cryin'.... :rock

Oh well, I know they can't play all the time and can't play everywhere........

  5. I'm there! Just waiting for the band to chime in!

    Anytime now!

    I'm ready!

    Hee hee

    :cheekkiss

We have a big backyard, so y'all are invited. Just bring some fried chicken or your favorite hot dish.

  6. I really would just LOVE if the band played in Baltimore...somewhere other than the Meyerhoff...those dang seats prevent adequate dance moves! Way too formal...

If you wish on the Moon do things happen?

I wished on the Moon...for more than I ever knew....is that Billie Holliday?

  7. So funny Donna, I was with you on the read...the entire thread...and man I am SO envious! Wish Mike and I were there with you all...Morgan...love the photos...they are amazing. The poster is awesome!!! Waiting for WILCO to add a show here in DC/Baltimore...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ADD A SHOW!!! Hi Edie!! Hi Isadorah from DC!!!! (BTW On and On is my favorite song and I requested it at the LR show!!)

Where: Look Park, The Pines, Northampton MA

When: Sunday June 24th, 2007 at the end of the main set or end of 1st encore, can't remember now

How: Well, ya know how at the end of 'Hummingbird" he usually does his adorable little running in place dance? Well, he did it that night and jumped in the middle of the audience to do it. There was only one person beween Jeff and I, so I had to "seize the day" and I reached out to touch him. I put my right hand on his left shoulder while he did his little jig in place :dancing I still remember what he was wearing and how hot (LITERALLY, I mean) his shoulder was!!! :wub That was about it. It was funny, too, because when he went back on stage after the song was over, he commented on how we all reacted. He said we all backed up like he was going to break dance or something :lol When all he WANTED to do, was "be with us" :D He said some people were even looking at him weird, because they didn't know what to make of the whole thing. Silly people :no

    That's my story ;)

  10. WAIT!!!

What do you mean he came out to dance with you???

    Where, when, how...details please!!!!

It was such a treat. This whole week has been the best week of my life EVER!!! I will never forget any of this!!!

(Oh and for the record, if I didn't mention it in 'The Pines' thread...I did touch Jeff on the shoulder when he came out to dance with us :D I thought I was going to die!!! I know I might come off like a COMPLETE groupie at times and I am. But ya know what?!? I honestly appreciate them and respect them, as well. They've been a big part of my life over the past 7 years and will continue to be. I don't think I could ever completely express in words what they, moreso Jeff himself, do for my heart and soul!!!) :wub

  11. DUDE! That was your ticket to BACKSTAGE!!!!

    Yes, stop drinking now!

It was the "after show" where you GET TO MEET THE BAND!!!!!!!!!! :stunned

During the show in Boston someone handed me a stick-on badge, "Wilco 07 Aftershow" with the SBS artwork on it. Did anyone else get one of these? What the hell is it? Did I miss something cool? Should I quit drinking?
  12. That's funny!!! I saw Glenn do that at Merriweather and Redbank....and after the show at Redbank I asked him about it and said it was awesome and he said it was in tribute to someone that I had never heard of...a drummer obviously...but the name went way over my head. He said he didn' t think many people would get it...probably said that because of the look on my face. :P

I was just strapping my surfboard to the roof of my car and was laughing out loud about Glenn standing with his sticks above his head in killer rock star pose during the intro ITMWLY. Killer version by the way. A neighbor caught me laughing, but he just wouldn't understand.
