  1. interesting tidbit: cannabis stores are considered essential businesses in washington & will remain open during the shut down.

Same for Illinois - but for medical use only. (as 1/1/20, recreational use was legal)

  2. I guess, this whole situation may finally get me to set up these social media accounts that I have been hearing about for so long (full disclosure, I just jump on my wife's accounts when I feel the need).

Tonight, a local musician I know ( he plays a lot of house parties, charities, and bars in my village) is putting on a live show tonight via the web.

I told my wife, I am going to pull out my guitar and play along with him, while watching it. (my kid's are going to love it - probably not, but I'll enjoy it.)

  3. All our schools will be off for 3 weeks (south suburb of Chicago).

My wife, who works at the Univ. of Chicago, was told to work from home indefinitely.

Also, I am in trades, too - never thought we would be told to shut down for a bit, but who knows.

  4. I watched the webcast and thought it sounded great. Would love to see this lineup tour more, or any incarnation with Derek, Warren, and Oteil. Chuck was nice, not sure about his vocals on Blue Sky. Would be nice to have another singer in the band, but Warren was a natural on all the songs.

Yeah, I was surprised that he took lead on the that, but I thought it sounded pretty good. He has somewhat that same vocal timbre as Betts. Not to mention it seem like a nice shout-out to Betts, by having Chuck sing it.

  5. True, but not many fans are buying albums these days.  I don't begrudge artists trying to make a living on concert ticket and merch sales (or any other way)

Yeah - no begrudging here - just making a point on the cost difference between the 13 years and it stinks that I will be passing due to the cost.

  6. Got two for Chicago but kind of disappointed with how far back I am.  I may try to improve when the tickets do on sale to the general public.

Kinda bummed on the price for the lawn (where you can't see the stage) - $56 or so with fees. Far cry from 2007. Inflation is a bitch, I tell ya....

Had a great time at that 2007 show....the lawn was a hoot.

  7. Go White Sox!

It has been a great off-season for the White Sox. Expecting them to make the playoffs this year.  I already have tickets in hand for three games; it has been a long while since I bought tickets before a season has even started.

Should be interesting to see how the Astros are received through out the year.

I'll leave it to others for predictions.

  8. Thanks for the report.  My son agrees with you about Neon Skyline -- best album of the year so far.

Must admit never heard of Andy Shauf before, but listening to Neon Skyline now via Spofity, pretty good. He is playing Thalia Hall this Saturday and it is sold out. Looks like they could have moved that gig to a bigger place, too.

  9. For some odd reason I spent time everyday watching interviews with him on Youtube a while back. I am not really interested in any new music anymore - but I like some of the songs off his last two albums.

Yeah - same for me with new music, if I am interested in new music, I typically just go the local library route.

But Liam's efforts has propelled me to actually buy the vinyl. Just the right amount  of pop and rock, I guess. Lyrics are pretty dreadful, at times - but the music/melodies covers that. He uses different songwriters/producers for various songs, which help make the records interesting, too.

  10. I was never much of a fan of Oasis during their hey day (never owned any of the music) - that being said, I really enjoy Liam's last two solo records - have them both on vinyl. I am not familiar with any of Noel's material.

  11. Picked up tickets to see Chris and Rich perform at Lincoln Hall in a few weeks. Going to be interested to see what the song selection is like for the show. I'm hoping it veers off of Shake Your Money Maker liberally. They couldn't have picked a better Chicago venue.

    How was the show?

  12. Sort of odd it's coming out now -

Of course both of them put out albums just before walking away from their bands.

I am still trying to figure out if they are broke and need the money or actually want to play together.

I guess the director has been with CRB since the beginning, so I guess now is as good a time to put it out, since the band is no more. I am sure he started editing once the band disbanded.

I suppose, the brothers need the dough and are fine to work together, again. Them not hiring a bunch of ex-members tells me that they don't want to have to really deal with anybody but themselves - which is fine.

Crap, didn't hear about that. Great venue. Would rather spend $50 to see this show, than $10 and sit in the lawn at the World.
