  1. funny this...

     

    i always play Gun with a capo on 2 and sing it lower like jeff used to at solo shows. a few hours ago, i decided to try it open and sing it high and it sounded pretty ok.... the first time i ever tried it without a capo

     

     

    No kidding! I tried that for the first time yesterday too! Mad.

    First, the Latin. This is my best stab at what JT's saying, but I don't know Latin so it's a blind stab at best. The first two words mean illiterate light which is a no-brainer since that's what he says later. The last word means "faith, trust or confidence" according to the first latin-english dictionary that came up on Google. Good enough for me. (Of course, any and all corrections are appreciated.)

     

    This has a loose bluesy feel to it so feel free to deviate a little from the tab if it suits the song.

     

    Drop D. No capo.

I had this idea for a capo that would not actually clamp down on all the strings but instead allow you to choose what strings you want capoed, allowing you to hit alternate tunings without the tuning part. However, I just found a capo that did exactly this. Anybody have this? Heard of it? I'm really interested as I'm always moving inbetween tunings and that puts a lot of stress on my guitars; stress I would like to avoid. Is it worth the $12?

    Just throw a capo on 2 and play two bars of A, then one of Em and D. You gotta mix up the rhythm a bit - hammer on second fret of the B-string when you're playing the A. Like this.

  7. I've played a few Taylors, one was a Big Baby I think and, I was not too impressed. I'm not sure if my friend humidifies his guitars but the frets were sticking off the neck a wee bit just enough to scrape my hands. I'd say if you are looking to buy an expensive Taylor, go for a middle class Martin. I'm pretty partial to Martins though.

  9. I agree. I wouldn't try playing Airline too soon. But, if you are determinded to play it, just play the chords for now minus the bassline. Once you get the timing, then try adding the bassline. I also agree to playing along to recordings of whatever song you are learning, it helps as I still do it occasionally. If you need recordings of any song, don't be afraid to ask.
