  1. yeah i dunno, that was my only doubt. but kids might get messenger jobs or something of the like, little tasks to feel like they are "part" of the initiative. who knows, i guess next week's episode will tell all

    (hopefully)

  2. I was going to bring this up in an earlier post...but I couldn't come up with a good explanation for why Ben let Hurley go back to the Losties camp and kept the three.

Yeah same here...and what about Jin? Why wasn't he on the list? Wouldn't Ben remember him from the 70s as well? Also, they all have different names in the DI..I don't know I just confused myself when I started thinking about this too much so I stopped :hmm

  3. I am studying in New Zealand this semester. So far it has been great. I know people like to live vicariously through other peoples pictures, (I do at least). So in that vein, here are some pictures that I have up loaded. http://www.flickr.com/photos/30109343@N03/ enjoy.

If you are from New Zealand, what or where should I go?

Hey, I'll be studying there next semester! Where abouts are you? I'll be in Auckland..plan on traveling as much as possible though. Let us know which places qualify as "must see's"!

Oh, as of now this is near the top of my list of places to go: New Zealand town attempting to create first "starlight reserve"

  4. This is sort of how I envisioned it: The new plane was crashing and was right above the main island when the island jumped in time. The time jumping effects people who have been on the island different lengths of time...differently. The others don't jump with the island, but the oceanic 815 people do jump. So all the oceanic 815 survivors time jumped out of the plane when the flash hit, and fell from the sky in the past. Locke didn't jump because he wasn't alive yet (I don't think dead people jump through time), Ben didn't jump because he was an other, and Lapidus didn't jump because, ummmmmm, he wasn't on the island as long as other people. I dunno. The theory has a lot of holes in it and would mean that other lady he went with wasn't sun (could be faraday's mom?)

this was my thought too--that the flash wasnt just a result of the plane entering the window, but also a time jump happening simultaneously. what im curious about, however, is whether or not they are now stuck in the time period (dharma initiative era) in which they landed. wasnt the point of them all coming back to the island to stop the time jumps?? (i mean, not necessarily the reason, but a reason) so now that they're all there, do the jumps just stop? if so, they're all about to get pretty cozy with the dharma initiative....

  5. i don't know, sayid didnt look super phased by the whole ordeal. neither did the cop. felt staged to me (meaning sayid was in on it for whatever reason). i mean, if sayid really just happened to be arrested at the same time and put on the same plane, wouldnt you expect a major freak out when he sees the rest of the losties on his plane, when he was so adamant about not going back just hours earlier? i feel like he would have struggled a bit...

okay, and it really annoyed me when jack sat down next to kate and started talking about how everyone ending up on the plane was a "weird coincidence" or whatever. come on. really?? :rolleyes

definitely a lot of questions left to be answered. looking forward to this week's episode

  6. I agree with you - particularity when people are not suppose to be "video taping" Wilco/Jeff Tweedy shows to begin with.

I find it a bit odd that sometimes people post a link to a video in a thread and it gets removed, and other times, it does not.

Yeah, while I'm extremely pleased to be able to experience the night's stories and highlights through these videos (I've happily watched several of them, thanks for that), I do think it is a bit much to record and post two thirds of the setlist. What's special about the Living Room Shows and these more expensive benefit shows is that it is a unique show that Jeff does not do very often, and is meant to be a "different" kind of experience for those who generously donate their money. I don't know what the rules were for bringing cameras/video cameras into the shows, but this just seems like a little bit of an encroachment on the kindness of the band to let fans take photos and make sound recordings freely. Usually a clip of a song or two is fine, but it just seems to me that (and I feel like this has been an issue in the past..) Jeff/the band may have a problem with over 20 whole songs being recorded on video without permission. Again, I'm no expert on the issue, this is just based on past experience..but I think the general rule of thumb is to keep the recording to a minimum unless you've had permission from someone to shoot the show :thumbup

On another note, was so disappointed I had to miss out on these this year :( Great setlists and sounds like an amazing time all around. Thanks for sharing everyone!

  7. Beautiful pic Charles :thumbup

I am about to head out of town for the weekend and have been trying to get my photos edited and uploaded before I leave...just finally got them up, but the color/editing is all bizarre looking and I don't have time to fix it :hmm Anyway, sorry for that, will have to go back and re-edit, but these will do for now. Here are a few:

The rest of the photos are here!

  8. Also, poor Jamie (who was sick as a dog all weekend) made the cutest little charms for everybody, so we got another souvenir in addition to the posters! Thanks, Jamie!!

are there extras of these around somewhere? i had one but it's disappeared!! :(

thank you thank you thank you to everyone...wendy and edie for all your hard work to put this shindig together, warner for renting all the equipment and spending hours of prep time the day before/day of to make sure we had the best experience possible, everyone who attended and donated their money toward such a wonderful cause, and of course jeff and sue for their kindness and generosity and for giving so much of their time to make this possible!

ugh, i am in the middle of cramming for a midterm right now (didnt get as much studying done this weekend as i'd hoped... :stunned ) so i will post more thoughts and pictures soon! until then...miss you guys. thanks again for such an amazing night! :wub

  9. You are thinking too lineally about the show. When we saw the Orchid Station being built in 5.01, we saw Daniel there. Because you didn't see Sawyer, et al, doesn't mean they weren't there. In Daniel's time line, he will and the other's (if they all don't die) will go to the building of the Orchid station. We should see this in a future episode.

wow. how did that not even cross my mind? that makes a whole lot of sense. stupid time travel craziness

  10. Interesting screen cap. It mentions both Oxford and an animal clinic (such as the one where Ben stitched up Sayid after Elsa shot him?!?). Maybe the "subject" is Ms. Hawking.

Except they're not brother & sister. Minor detail. And the smilie is most appropriate... :lol

Err right, minor lapse in memory. You get what I meant though :lol

And I was thinking mrs hawking as well..

  11. okay, so why isn't daniel getting a bloody nose then? he's been doing this time travel thing for awhile, right? and we assume he's been to the island many times before (was seen at the construction of the orchid station)..i guess the duration of his stays just dont add up to miles or charlotte? or does it have to do with having a constant? faraday did see desmond fairly recently..(who is his constant)

also, if you read this carefully: http://getlostpodcast.iimmgg.com/image/c31...a1093e2eec932a7 it seems that the "subject" that sun is having followed is a SHE not a he. so even though she looks at photographs of ben and jack, who is it that she is having followed??

also also, im waiting for the scene where miles' ears prick up and he tells the losties there are a brother and sister in the sand who were buried alive :lol (er, wait, i guess that smilie isnt exactly appropriate :hmm)

  12. aw thank you guys!! i appreciate it :)

had a great day...got an extra hour to celebrate! (slash sleep..) and i got my first surprise party ever!! complete with MO-jitos (get it? morgan? mo?), homemade cards, and pin the tail on the donkey (i may not be a teenager anymore but im never too old for party games). it totally made up for the fact that i have 2 midterms tomorrow..

anyway, thanks again everyone, hope you all are well, and happy birthday to walrus and chris! :thumbup :birthday

    (third song on the page)

This is great. I love Chris Thile and pretty much any song he sings (his voice is just so soothing and beautiful) but it's great to hear a new take on one of my favorite Wilco songs. Reminds me of the Pickin' On Wilco album, which I still whip out every once in awhile (that version of When You Wake Up Feeling Old is a GREAT fall/autumn tune, by the way)

  14. I was there (for Andrew Bird) on the lawn. The place was packed. Weather turned out perfect, in my opinion. The opening band (don't remember, but Occidental was in the name) was very good and fun to listen to in a background sort of way, but I admit I wasn't paying that much attention at the time; I was more interested in just lying in the grass in the middle of Chicago.

I thought Andrew Bird's set was great. He came on at 7:30PM and did 2 songs by himself, one of them was a cover of the Handsome Family. "The Giant of Illinois" was the name I believe. After that, his band from Minneapolis came out and helped him out. They rocked the house. Lots of stuff from Armchair Apocrypha and lots of new stuff (He said the album was coming out soon) that sounded really good. Towards the end of the main set, people got up and started dancing all over the place in the lawn and in the pavilion. He seemed to really dig that. Part of what helped was that Oprah had been to the Park earlier that day and put up 3 huge video screens and new curtains and stuff, and had left it there for the park to use, so they took full use of it. During most of the songs, it was footage of Andrew and the Band, but they also intercut cool animated footage at points, like this squid and a dude swimming together. It really was nice to be able to see stuff clearly from the lawn. The band had a blast, and everyone around me had a blast as well. I believe they left the stage close to 9:30. A fun and free night out in Chicago.

I was extremely disappointed that I missed out on tonight's free gig at Millennium Park: a live taping of Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me!

I believe next week they will also be doing The Joffrey Ballet and a Steppenwolf Theater productions in the park for free... I will be trying to attend those as well.

i think i may have spotted you leaving at the end of the night...are you sporting a 'stache these days? :) and wearing the brown wilco jacket..?

what a great night...so glad it didnt rain. one of those nights that just makes you really appreciate chicago and everything it has to offer. the screens were awesome and i really enjoyed being able to see everything that was going on from all the way back on the lawn...the video and animation stuff was really great too. he played a wonderful set and im really, REALLY digging the new stuff. cant wait for the next album!

the full name of the opening band was the occidental brothers dance band international..world music type stuff. pretty interesting. overall it was a great time, though i do regret not seeing glenn with the kronos quartet at ravinia...im with lou, id love to hear a review if anyone's got one

  15. i got one of glenn's sticks at the residency shows in february and i couldnt get over how incredibly generous it was--he plays a full show, is exhausted, and then he goes backstage and takes the time to sign and date his sticks and get them to some fans. how awesome is that? i hadnt heard of him doing that before so when the roadie came out brandishing it to the crowd i was just blown away. i wouldnt sell mine for a million bucks

  16. thanks guys--this helps a lot! a lot of these were on my "preliminary" list, just from things ive read on websites and whatnot--you guys have sold me on a lot of them though...the rodin museum is a definite yes, as ive heard good things from multiple people. the catacombs sound awesome as well, though im not sure my mom will be able to handle it..(im taking her with me for her summer vacation). the pere lachaise cemetery sounds amazing, i was hoping someone would confirm that as a worthwhile stop--all of these sound great. hopefully i can fit it all in!!
