  1.

I used Google Chrome and reloaded starting at 9:59, and right at 10:00 the option came up to buy tickets. I like Google Chrome better than IE when buying tickets, because I ran into the problem you had many times over the years. Think it's an issue with cookies.

This is really surprising to hear, because I know a few other people who also couldn't even select tickets until :08 or :09 like myself. I'm using Firefox, not sure about the others. I also tried refreshing in IE. I have Chrome but didn't try it.

  2. I got through right at 10 and grabbed a pair from the Jam Productions presale. They are main floor, but in the back left. I wonder how the sound is back there....

The guy next to me at work got in at the same exact time and tried the XRT presale and they were gone.

Buying tickets is getting to be a huge pain...but I'm happy I grabbed a pair and I'm hoping at least some of you were able to get some.

Right at 10? The Ticketmaster page didn't even let you select tickets until 10:08 or 10:09

Also, there are no will call only restrictions on the public tickets, correct? That means tons will be going on craigslist, etc

  3. Show was AWESOME!!!

I've been dying to hear the new songs live ever since the album came out. I preferred to wait and see them myself rather than downloading other shows, etc.

BULL BLACK NOVA was everything I hoped for!!! Total freakout. Please, please melt my face with this again tomorrow night!

We were on the floor about 15-20 rows back. Sound was LOUD and clear. Really fantastic. I heard a lot of subtleties coming through all night. Much better than expected. I hadn't been to UIC Pav in 7 years, so I wasn't sure.

Hoodoo Voodoo = so awesome. Even songs that I've seen at every show (IATTBYH, ITMWLY, Theologians, Kingpin), were all fantastic. I haven't seen them since the 5 night run at the Riv so I just welcomed everything.

Some people were into the show, but most just stood there motionless most of the time (this isn't a surprise to me anymore, but still... I don't know how you can look that bored while seeing this band). I also think about a thousand people skipped the show due to the Bears game. The floor was not full.

Did anyone else think in You Never Know, Nels missed the one line that sounds straight from "My Sweet Lord" (George Harrison)? Just an observation.

  4. I don't know if I'm more excited to see Wilco or TORTOISE!!! Ooops did I say that on this board? ;) Well, their show at Empty Bottle earlier this year was really great. Pitchfork was OK but was too big / bloated for them.

But seriously, I'm so excited to hear the new album songs live!

Any good nearby (walking distance) pre-show bars?

  5. Something they sing at Near North Montissori School, which is part of the benefit.

    Great little ditty!!

Show was GREAT!! Really itching to go again tonight (which is always the case when I attend the first night of a multiple night run).

  6. One problem I have with the suggestions of Will Call only sales and being required to show an I.D. is that sometimes I can't make a show or simply choose not to go after purchasing a ticket. In these situations I usually give it to a friend or sell it at face value.

I like the availability and lee-way afforded of a hard-copy ticket. If I opt out of using my ticket I'd rather see it put to use by someone who wants to go to the show rather than it going to no use because of Will Call.

For "regular" shows, yes it is nice to be able to give tickets to friends / sell to strangers for face if you can't make it. But for a special run like this, to prevent scalping, it really is the only way. If they put that system in place, and you're pretty sure you're can make the show(s), you buy tickets. If there is major doubt, don't buy in the first place. If you suddenly find out you can go last minute, well hopefully someone has an extra to bring you inside with them.

  7. 100% agreed they should do will-call ONLY, especially for a special run like this. I posted this in the other thread:

To virtually eliminate scalping' date=' they really should make all ticket buyers only be able to pick up tickets with their IDs at will call as they enter the venue (that means get ticket, have ticket immediately scanned, and walk in -- once a ticket is scanned they cannot walk outside and sell it because it will not scan a second time). It is terrible that scalpers make money from real fans who couldn't get through for tickets. If they used this ticket distribution policy, scalpers would not even try for tickets, thus allowing more fans to get through.

Smashing Pumpkins did this for their 9 nights in Asheville, NC and 12 nights in San Francisco this past summer. Worked perfectly. The only disadvantage is if someone buys tickets and then somehow finds out they can't go, they have no way of selling the tickets (to another fan) because they do not have them in their possession. But since most people who buy DO end up being able to go, I think fans overall would be in favor of the policy.

BTW I guess I was pretty lucky to get Mon-Tues-Weds based on some of the disappointed posts in this thread.

  9. I think all tickets should be picked up at will call, where you would have to show I.D. to get them, problem solved (with long lines)!

Smashing Pumpkins did this for the "residencies" this summer (9 shows at Orange Peel in Asheville, NC and 12 shows at Fillmore in San Francisco). It was perfect. Eliiminated 99.9% of all scalping. The scalpers didn't even bother getting tickets because there was no way to sell them because the original buyer had to show ID at will call to pick them up and then enter the venue immediately (i.e. no heading back out to the street to sell them).

This is the way to do it for any "big deal" shows. Wilco, please take note.

  10. it will probably be 5 diff tix, that will arrive strung together. it's how they handled the multi-day tix in denver.

A page or 2 earlier someone said they confirmed with MusicToday that it will be only 1 ticket. I dunno any more details

  11. $175 ticket + $6.50 USPS mail shipping + $9.50 service fee = $191 total.

No thank you!! I can't go the first 2 nights anyway, I was just curious to see if it was worth it to buy this and let someone else use it the first 2 nights. Looks like I'll just be buying the last 3 via the XRT presale or public sale
