  1. I recently went through a pedal buying phase, and I'm in the process of making a pedal board, but I want to know a good order for the pedals I have. Most of them are cheap, but they do the job, and I wanted to see what order would work best to get a good sound and to reduce static and extraneous noise, if that makes sense.

    I'll list what I have:

    Distortion

    Overdrive

    Volume

    Wah

    Tuning

    Chorus

    Flanger

    Slap Echo

    Delay

    Reverb

    Tremolo

    Vibrato

Again, a lot of these were very cheap, and I am very new to this, so any help and input is appreciated. Thanks!

  2. That's certainly not the first time I've read or heard someone say that, but I just don't see it. Of course, this is coming from someone who thinks Neko might have the best voice of any singer over the last 20 years.

Shonna sounds like someone I would run into in a karaoke bar in southern Georgia. I don't mean to be harsh, and I love the Truckers and I think her harmony vocals are usually spot-on. But I can't get past her voice on her songs. My buddy said those songs worked a lot better in a live setting (especially I'm Sorry, Huston), so maybe I'll change my tune after getting a chance to see them.

Yeah, they definitely do better in a live setting. However, she isn't as confident of a singer yet as Cooley or Hood, so audience reaction was kind, in a sort of "aww ain't she cute, she's singing" kind of way.

  3. Man, what a show! I was front and center, right in front of Patterson Hood. The band played for about two hours, and they were killing every song throughout. The songs off the new album rocked (especially Shoanna Tucker's songs) and the encore of Zip City, 18 Wheels of Love and Lookout Mountain absolutely killed.

The Felice Brothers opened and they were so good. They were like a country-punk-hillbilly version of The Band, and for only a $15 ticket, I would have paid just to see them.

Go see the Truckers on this tour, they are on fire. Jason Isbell is missed, but the rest of the band more than makes up for it.

  4. You know what was the coolest thing about seeing/hearing you guys play with Wilco? The horn arrangements changed almost every night. They became more elaborate, and they better suited the songs. I thought you guys were awesome, and I am sad I only saw Friday, because after hearing you guys with the band on the radio/internet on Tuesday and Wednesday, it was clear you played a bigger and richer role.

Congratulations, you guys sounded great, and good luck.

  5. I just had a rough day going into this thing and I think I just wasn't into it as much as the past three shows. It was still good, I just wasn't that into the songs they chose for tonight for whatever reason. However, I was diggin' the Summerteeth and, as mentioned already, to hear Hotel Arizona again was excellent.

To add to my misery, they did Spiders again, something I was praying I'd only hear once over the 5 nights. I am so damn sick of that song, live or otherwise. I'd take Tweedy playing it solo over the full band any day of the freakin' week. Also, is it totally necessary to play Hate It Here every night?

Hopefully tomorrow provides the perfect closer. By my count though, there are only a select handful of proper album songs not played yet and none really enthuse me at all with the exception of "Pieholden Suite." I'm really hoping they bust out a couple other b-sides, such as "The Good Part."

And if I may pose a question: why the hell aren't they playing "The Thanks I Get" every night? I'm hoping the rest of you folks waiting for your hometown Wilco fix will get to hear it played live. They're willing to let it be used in commercials and to play it on Conan prior to SBS's release and now we never hear it. Keep that one rolling, boys.

Sorry about tonight, and hopefully tomorrow night is better for you!

After all, it is Wilco, and tonight couldn't have been THAT bad if they were in the mix, right?

Enjoy tomorrow though. Some of us only got to go to one night, so you are part of the lucky ones.

  6. Yes, thanks y'all. I never have to dilute my obsession here....I'm in good company!

Yes, they did play On & On & On, right after Spiders before the break...

Thanks. Again, I wasn't able to listen to the first set (covering a meeting for the newspaper). Hopefully somebody captured the audio and posts it.

  7. I made a mistake, and fixed it, it was 6.

    Shouldn't Be Ashamed

    I Thought I Held You

    Pieholden Suite

    Less Than You Think

    What Light

    On and On and On

That doesn't include MA or b-sides

Wait, they did On and On and On tonight? My bad. I didn't get to listen to the first set.

I will update this post when I read it (and compile from others, like happeningstone). God I am a nerd. Oh well.

Edit: For the rest of the show, I will not be around to do the setlist. I am a student at the University of Illinois, and I have to cover a candlelight vigil for the NIU shootings for the Pioneer Press. Sorry. Hope the rest goes well, and I'll look for it when I get back.

    Edit: I'm back.

I think that's it. 32 songs. Here is the complete setlist, as far as I know.

    Lucky bastards.
