  1. I just got back from the Ween show in Urbana, and let me say they are only getting more rocking with age. The band has been around 24 years, and still play really loud. The songs from the new album sound great (it comes out next week). Dean Ween is a monster at guitar, and Gene is just a cornball, but in a good way.

    Setlist:

    Exactly Where I'm At

    She Wanted to Leave

    Light Me Up

    Piss Up a Rope

    Learnin' to Love

    Take Me Away

    Touch My Tooter

    Even If You Don't

    Object

    Woman and Man

    Zoloft

    Buckingham Green

    Bananas and Blow

Booze Me Up and Get Me High

    My Own Bare Hands

    Frank

    The Mollusk

    Spinal Meningitis (Got Me Down)

    Happy Colored Marbles

    Spirit Walker

Don't Get Too Close (2 My Fantasy)

I'll Be Your Jonny on th' Spot

    You Fucked Up

I Can't Put My Finger on It

    Encore:

    Fiesta

Wavin' My Dick in the Wind

    Reggaejunkiejew

    Poop Ship Destroyer

(Voodoo Lady was on the setlist, but Poop Ship Destroyer wasn't)

  2. I was at this show, because I am a student at U of I. I had my doubts, because I bought tickets and my roommate wanted to go (he works for the company that brings the talent to the school). Him and I were very very impressed. The last time I saw him was at Lollapalooza, and the band was so much tighter. The music sounded great, and I was pumped that he played such a long set. "Shakedown on 9th Street" was a personal highlight, and the version he did was awesome.

  3. $45 is pretty steep, but I fear it's a sign of things to come. Perhaps they'll play 26-30 songs for that amount as opposed to 18-22 songs for $30.

Meh. I don't know. I bet they only can play until 10. Lollapalooza can only go that long, and it is not that far away on a weekend. I bet Dr. Dog plays for 45 minutes. They take a half hour to set up. That leaves the band 2 hours 15 minutes, tops. They may be able to do a few more, but not 26-30.

  4. I'm sure Nels is in no mood to see fighting considering one of his friends just GOT MURDERED after a stupid argument got out of hand in a parking lot.

    Thanks for the reviews.

Wait what? I don't know if I heard about what you are referring to...

  5. I just got back from a 2 and a half hour drive. It was a good show. I saw the setlist after, they were supposed to play four songs as well. Stupid curfew.

I was second row (which I didn't find out until I got there!). The band was really playing well (first time I have heard Kamera live, and this was my 10th show). Anything I say would be simply repeating comments other people have made or will make.

Low was fantastic. Too bad nobody was listening.

  6. I haven't seen them have that much energy since the Vic shows. They were really loose tonight, and it showed! I havent seen an Auditorium show that good since 2003. Yeah, I was a little disappointed about the set length, but still, the energy was higher than I've seen it in a long time. I LOVED "She's a Jar", and the new songs, while I have heard some of them live before, really are taking advantage of having 3 guitarists (talented ones, at that).

P.S. I was in Row Z of the Pit, and behind me was this drunk couple. When Jeff said he didn't know when they would be playing next, the lady started to cry. Sad? You decide...

  7. That was me for the "I'll give you a black eye" comment. I was getting pissed off. The people behind me on the first level were just rude, loud, obnoxious college students (and I am in college myself, but I think I can set myself apart from them). If the crowd was respectful in the front, towards the back it just got stupid, and I had had enough. It was just overall disrespectful, and Jeff didn't deserve it. He was very patient with putting up with people at times.

Good show though. I really did enjoy it.

  8. alright. i think someone asked this earlier, but still hasn't gotten a response. Do I need to have a dvd burner in order for my computer to even read the disk? Or should a cd drive be able to read the disk? Cause all i have is a cd drive, and nothing is happening... :(

    You need a DVD drive.

  9. I don't know if this was covered in the thread, but I was reading Paste today, and the bonus CD has a Jay Bennett song on it from the new record. However, the song is credited to J. Bennett AND J. Stirratt. Are John and Jay on good terms? They work together? What is the deal?
