  1. I was also enjoying the book so far. That is, until the truck I was driving was stolen. With my briefcase in it. With the book in that. Not to mention my wallet, checkbook, phone, iPod, and on and on.

One aspect on the narrative that I found a little too clever and, as a result, annoying, was the author's habit of leading us through a scene where the conflict began to mount only to be quickly cut away; as if to say, "stay tuned;" or, "more on that later;" or, "story on the 11 o'clock news!" I had only made it through the first 80 pages or so. Maybe it became more fluid farther into the story.

  2. Because not everyone subscribes to utilitarianism and thus the primary intention of an act of war can justify the secondary effects such as civilian deaths.

So tell me Ms. Kamm, does a "military engagement" brought to fruition through fabricated fear and arrogance-based fraud also justify innocent death? Where's the fucking morality in that?

  3. This is the best news I've heard in a long time. He's going to be with them from Indy to NC, and we'll be at Indy, NC, and hopefully SC. Happy Mother's Day to me!!

Yeah! Happy Mother's Day to you Tamela!

  4. Michael and Vanessa,

Very happy it's turning out well. Thank God for your friend and second opinions.

The 3B of the Texas Rangers had the same procedure done last year and is playing major league baseball again this year. Who knows . . . the Orioles might need a new 3B next year!

Hope to see you both sooner than later.

  5. A letter of sorts:

Okay, so since last thursday, I have been home for a total of 3 hours. Needless to say, haven't had much time to read/post in this thread. Now that I'm caught up, I want to say this:

I had a great time. It was probably the most perfect weekend I've ever had. The weather, the parties, the people, the actual show, seeing Glenn's concert, the food, just everything. I was really glad to meet everyone I hadn't before, and it's always great to see old friends. Coming away from the experience, I feel lucky to be a part of a community that is so loving and generous. I also think that we are lucky to have Jeff and his wife, not only as fans of Wilco, but as people that live in this world. They have been so gracious to us and to the various causes/benefits that they support. Just wow.

I want to sincerely thank all of you who were involved this past weekend. It was an experience I'll never forget and something truly inspiring(Maybe my stupid grin in a bunch of those photos is proof, but I'd thought I'd share in words, too).

Much love to all of you,

    Bryan

    P.S. Hummingbird-holy crap. Thanks Jeff.

    nice man

It was good to see you again, and I'm looking forward to our next meeting.

Dude! YOU are Dye-no-mite! Missed you Saturday. How's the guitar look? It was amazing when he asked if there was another guitar he should play on Love And Mercy!
