FLASH: Fri Aug 22 2008 17:52:03 ET /// KMBC's Micheal Mahoney reports a company in Kansas City, which specializes in political literature, has been printing Obama-Bayh material... MORE... Gill Studios, would not confirm information about the material. They would not deny it either. At least three sources close to the plant's operations reported the Obama-Bayh material was being produced...

  3. Do you knwo for a fact that McCains name is not on any of them? I don't.

    Politico

And, you know what it really did not matter how many homes he owned until he began to rip on Obama for buying a pricey home in Hyde Park and tried to paint Obama as one of the wealthy elite out of touch with common americans. So McCain has to be exposed for being one of the truely wealthy elite that he is. And in reality who are either of them kidding? No serious contender for president is middle clas or poor. At worst they are upper middle class at the begining of their run and wealthy after they leave office.

i really don't give a damn about mccain. demonize away.

But McCain wannts to sound like a defender of the middle class, but as they say the dirt is in the details. Example McCains helath care plan, and this is an extention of a Bush wish list item, aims to curtail or eliminate the deduction for helath care insurance for employers (which is a tax increase by the way). If this occurs how many employers do you think will drop coverage for employees? The rhetoric on this is that the employers will increase employee salaries and employees will use MSA's for their coverage. The reality is that this will cause a major health care crisis as people will choose between food/gas/ hard goods/rent etc... and health care coverage. Bad Bad Bad policy for individuals.

    Yeah...

Give some examples of how Obama has initiated stuff that puts him knee deep in the Sh*t? Retaliatory stuff like the hose issue really should not count since he is firing back at an issue raised by McCains group directly.

    ..uhhuh...

you know, i really don't care about any of this crap.

seriously, i'm sorry for wasting your time (and mine). someone else who gives a sh*t really should respond to your thoughtful post. because neither of these idiots are getting my vote.

  4. What a craptastic country we're living in.
    :no

    hey, i can't help how i feel. doesn't mean i like it.

seriously, we're circling the drain here. obama?...mccain?...

WTF is going on? i've never cared less about an election.

i'm gonna stock up on torches and pitchforks

    VIVA LE REVOLUTION!!!!!!

    :ninjatorch

  5. I can't wait for this entire election to be over. I am fucking sick of seeing John McCain.

Has anyone else noticed that Barak is getting very gray lately??

    LouieB

I'm sick of seeing Obama AND McCain. I want a "do-over".

The only positive is Dubya will be gone, but the next day we'll be getting one of these two a-holes.

What a craptastic country we're living in.

Barack is enhancing the gray to appear more distinguished...chicks dig it.

  6. 5 comments about evan almighty:

my kids loved it (i liked it too).

steve did a good job with the role.

i don't care if i ever see john goodman in anything else ever again.

wanda sykes needs to find another role besides "wise-cracking bit player".

    i hope there won't be a 3rd "almighty" movie.

  7. Since this IS the election thread and not about faith, I'll take issue with this point. I would argue that the true "sheep" are the ones that buy that all Obama supporters are falling for some brand of "hope." I watch very little of Obama's speeches and instead focus on his stance on issues. But I will not deny that having a leader that inspires people is not necessarily a bad thing to me. Maybe dig a little deeper than the GOP talking points to understand that informed and well-reasoned voters may have a different view of what's good for America than you do and show some respect rather than blindly applying labels to what appears to be a majority of the country (and the world for that matter).

I'll take issue with this point. I would argue that the true "sheep" are the ones that buy all the B.S. Obama utters and who fall for some brand of "hope." I watch very little of Obama's speeches and instead focus on his handsome visage and his words, which are like butter melting all over me like a warm waffle soaked in syrup..mmmmm....gooood. I will not deny that having a leader that inspires people is like...totally awesome. Maybe if I dug a little deeper than the tired old Dem talking points I would understand that informed and well-reasoned voters do exist and that although they may have a different view than me, they aren't bad people that actually want what's good for America too. Maybe then we could all show some respect rather than blindly applying labels.

    it goes both ways.

  8. I understand what you're saying and you're right. But divorced of the message, I see a bit of the snake oil in this and it rubs me the wrong way, because I've seen fair minded people fall prey to it -- buying the PDL devotional, and the study guide etc. etc. because they may be grateful of the message and taking a sort of "fan approach" (concert T-shirt, obscure EP for sale etc.). The people who are susceptible are referred biblically as "sheep" and tend to blindly follow a shepherd.

dude, you are totally describing the "obama" brand.

    like...totally

    :lol

  9. I am a Christian. I've read the book, participated in a study regarding it. It's a nice read but hardly of any depth.

It IS marketed as a self-help book; it uses many self-help techniques. It does not offer anything new in terms of study; it borrows quite liberally for pre-existing studies and books that are as altruistic as you put it.

The Purpose Driven Life is, instead, marketed and packaged. It is a McChurch approach to bible study. It certainly doesn't promote further study; instead it's often pitched to those who go through the 40 days get a diploma from any further consideration.

The message and the messenger should be viewed together. In a sense, I have more problems with Rick Warren than, say, Dr. Phil because each are basically doing the same thing: using their position as a person of authority in order to market themselves as a franchise. Using faith as a selling point seems a bit more predatory to me.

well, you obviously percieve things differently than i do. this book is not a be all and end all. it does not cover all there is regarding incorporating faith into everyday life. but it is a great introduction into doing so. you are only going to get what you put into it. if your faith journey stops at rick warren's book, then you aren't really interested in seeking "truth", but are more likely just a member of oprah's book club crossing this book off your list and ready to delve into the next deepak chopra offering or whatever new guru she happens to be pimping.

just because i value the book doesn't mean i also value the study guide, key chain, bookmarks, coffee cup, etc. i'm not seeking to be brand concious, i'm seeking truth. and that is found in many more places than one particular book by a certain rick warren. there are numerous resources by numerous sources for those wishing to seek things out for themselves. c.s. lewis, erwin mcmanus, donald miller, etc. are but a few of many others also worthy of checking out. again, i could care less what rick says or does going forward. he wrote a book, it was good. end of story.

  10. But the "Purpose Driven Life Golf Wipe" and "Purpose Driven Life Martini Shaker" are a different story ...

the "purpose driven life" is not a self-help book, although to an atheist i could see how it's percieved that way. this book has a great message and is a great resource to those of faith. it has had a great influence on me personally.

rick warren is as human and imperfect as anyone. i put no individual on a pedestal, rick warren included. he was inspired to write a great book. hopefully, he will be inspired to to other things as impactful as that in the future, or maybe it will be someone else.

that being said, i don't like the ridiculous marketing and offshoot merchandise the book has generated. i don't care for the celebrity and personal fame rick has attained as a result either. but, that's something he has to answer for, not me. however, i will never deny that the book he was inspired to write is an insightful read and applicable to daily life. regardless of what path rick takes in life, the value of his book will never change for me.

people can't seem to seperate the message in the book from the messenger. usually, it's those people who've never taken the time to read the book. 'cause if you did...you might get some on ya. most people don't like books that don't paint the reader as the center of the universe. this is one of those books. humility makes you a better person. i would hope mr. warren keeps that in mind.

  11. Sweet Moses, how stupid is this country?

    that's a damn good question.

this forum did nothing to sway anyone. the supporters of each candidate heard what they wanted to hear while letting their bias keep them from objectively analyzing the opponent's responses. the press got their picture of them together on stage, the candidates got their evangelical "photo-op" with rick warren, and the pundits got some new material to chew on for a while.

    on a side note...

meanwhile, nancy grace is still all over the "tot mom/caylee" story. she is one disgusting human being (nancy grace, that is). i don't know how someone could continually make a living obsessing over horrible stories such as these and have absolutely nothing to offer but cutting commentary and repeated video in the background of the tot mom's party pics. i think i'm just going to give up my cnn habit altogether until they get this wretch off the air.

  12. record label release... i'm guessing their contract w/ Ryko included a greatest hits/compilation release before they're done

would've loved to have seen a live and rare track release instead. oh well, maybe it will get some new fans into the g.s. fold.
