  1. During and explanation of something, my father mentioned Adolf Hiteler and the atrocities he caused during WWII -- However, the chinese student had never been taught who Adolf Hitler was in ~20 years of schooling in China. Now that is filtering.

what year does china claim they landed on the moon?

  2. Still probably the best live band I have ever seen. Wish the where still around. Andy Sturmer is a great missing talent. The King Is Half Undressed in my top 5 greatist albums of all time!!!

been a jellyfish fan since they came into being. they disappeared much too soon. however, they are still active in the biz. roger manning has released a solo album recently, andy is still producing/writing and showing up on the odd album here and there as a session guy and roger's brother, is a studio wiz working with other artists. jason falkner has a new solo album "i'm ok, you're ok" being released in japan april 18th and stateside this summer. so, they are still around...kind of. maybe they'll do a reunion someday, but i wouldn't hold my breath on that one. the closest thing to a reunion they've had is the tv eyes project with jason and roger, who remain close friends. andy?...he's on his own island right now. i'm not sure where his head is at.

  3. Can I please ask you, with that many kids when are you actually able to LISTEN to music in the house?? I only have 2 kids and hearing any music in the house is next to impossible. If I play any at all, it's background music under the "white noise"....

ha, ha...it can be tricky. my wife's not much for wilco. she's not anti-wilco or anything and she enjoys some of it from time to time, but she likes her top 40 and i'm competing with that as much as the kids...but i love her anyway. somehow i'm able to work it in with all that goes on. the majority of my listening time is reserved for my drive to and from work and in the evening. thankfully, my kids are into their own things too [gameboy, books and cartoon network, juggling chainsaws, etc.] so they aren't bouncing off the walls when they aren't playing outside throwing rocks at passing cars and beating up the neighbor's kids...[just kidding]. they're good kids, they really are.

  4. As usual, I agree with Mr. H. So much so that I'm a completist and seek out anything even remotely SD related.

so you purchased all the solo michael mcdonald albums then...? i actually had a few of those lp's back in the day.

  5. It's sad that this will become material for jokes in the future.

were there any steaks on the grill?....lobster...?

i heard some of the jim rome show at lunch today and those twins from the espn cheap seats show were guest hosting. they had a bit about the lead singer of boston being killed by the band kansas. a rival geographically named classic rock band because boston had hijacked their song "dust in the wind". turns out the "caller" making the claim had illegally downloaded the song and it was mislabeled making him think it was a version by boston and not kansas and then he concocted this conspiracy theory. i'm now realizing this was not funny enough to waste my time typing this...but now it's too late...oh well...

  6. If you make the trip around induction time you might be able to catch a glimpse of a surly Pete Rose begging around the perimeter of the grounds (easily identifyable but the small group of apologists trailing behind).

do the apologists all have bowl haircuts like their hero? just wondering how dedicated they are.

  7. 1. Highland Community College - Highland, Kansas

    2. Kansas State University - Manhattan, Kansas

  8. i'm completely on board with this album now. I've been listening to it each of the last few nights and even my kids [ages 2,4,6 & 8] are liking it...or maybe they're just humoring me. my wife...she's a lost cause. if a song doesn't involve an artist who uses choreography and back-up dancers, she's not into it. i did catch my daughter dancing around to "hate it here" though. that's probably my favorite song at the moment. even though i don't expect this to be a commercial breakthrough for jeff and company, it's certainly a terrific artistic moment for wilco. and another "must have" for any wilco fan. i really hope they don't make us wait too far into the tour to finally play k.c., i really want to hear it all live.

two months from today we'll be able to enjoy this fine album in all it's glory. i can't wait to buy my "official" copy.

  9. Since 1967, The Blues have been right up there with Philly as far as a solid fanbase. Things started to unravel in 2003-4 when they fired Coach Quennville...then the lock out...then the selling off of key players for the pending sale of the team...missing the playoffs for the first time in 25 years...then the sale...then the new owners bump tix like 10% for a rebuilding team...however the team has drawn MUCH better since the Murray came on board, almost a sellout Saturday night.

JD will get this right and soon, and the fans believe this. With lots of cash to spend in the offseason, I really believe that we'll be a playoff contending team next year...Viva La Blue!!!

i hope so, i became an NHL fan after attending a blues game many years ago and will always have a soft spot for that team.

  10. The Wirtz family has driven the fan base away. Despite putting a crappy product on the ice, ticket prices have gone up. Plus the Blackhawks are almost never on local tv, so the team has very little visibility. Sad for an Original 6.

that sucks. i've always thought they had the best sweater in the NHL. i hope they turn it around.

  11. in no particular order:

    AM

    Being There

    Mermaid Avenue

    Summerteeth

    Mermaid Avenue, Vol. 2

    Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

    A Ghost Is Born

    Kicking Television: Live

    Sky Blue Sky

ranking wilco albums is becoming more like picking a favorite child. they are all different in their own way and just as special. i refuse to comply.
