  1. Funny how time slips away. 18 years here as well. I don’t visit too much but it’s so cool to see some familiar folks still participating and that makes me feel good. I wanted to drop a few lines to agree with you, TCP. This site has blessed me in so many ways. From new music to old music, tablature to file sharing, disagreements to agreements and everything in between. I wonder if some of the newer cats know how crazy this place used to get. Hahaha When I take in how the world seems to be operating these days it’s nice to visit a familiar place like this and reassure myself that what I see on tv and internet media is not a real reflection of our  world. Kidsmoke, Beltmann, Analogman, tongue-tied lightning very cool to see you all here.

  2. Wow. It’s such a trip to get on here and look around after being gone for so long. So much time has passed and so many things have changed. With that being said, Jay Bennett is still such a unknowingly huge reason I fell in love with Wilco. This documentary is long overdue and I don’t mean that in a “what took you so long” way.  I mean this man is worthy of more respect and gratitude than he’s ever received since being kicked out of the band This doc (although I’m super late to the party) is so good. I wish I had known about it and the opportunity to pitch in on the kickstarter. I’ve recently went back to my Bennett solo stuff and got on the internet looking for lyrics and tabs and chords stories and pictures and I was so disappointed. What a huge disappointment. I’m disappointed in how seemingly forgotten Jay was and really still is. Hardly and tabs, Apple Music has the lyrics for Cars Can’t Escape on Bigger Than Blue but nothing for the other songs. Nothing with lyrics popped up on the first page of google. It’s really hit me hard the last few days and it’s such a damn shame. The dude really was something of a genius….a mad scientist and the band was better because of it. I’m usually not this outspoken about these types of things but the bands best shit *for me anyways, was. WITH Bennett. I love Sky Blue Sky. In my opinion it stands out the most of all their released stuff post Bennett. But cmon man. The dude was so freaking good. Then you put him and Jeff together?! It was as close to a Lennon-McCartney as anything I’ve ever personally witnessed. Sounds crazy and it probably is but those guys songwriting and musicianship shaped me in a very profound way and I really wish I could have met Jay. I would have loved to tell him “Thank You” He deserves so much more credit than he ever received. I enjoyed this documentary so much. Donna, and the other people that have added stories and feelings from the heart about the man and his music was such a joy to read. Despite it being almost 3 years ago that this was posted, it was sweet and refreshing and I’d like to thank you guys as well! Here’s to Jay! 🍻

  3. I did? I don't remember saying that. But hey, I guess you know.

I am good at name calling, as well? I figured I was pretty bad at it.

I guess it ok not to vote then. Non-voters are great! They totally have a say in our government and it is good they didn't vote. Yeah non-voters. They proved their bravery and worthiness in society, by sitting out of the most fundamental and basic tenants of our government, representation. Good for you non-voters! You are the freaking best.

I just found it peculiar l when you stated you don't like name calling since I've noticed over the years you throw out names. Asshats, idiots, rubes, cowards?

You don't have to praise a non-voter. And I don't think if someone chose not to place a vote for a presidential nominee that it makes them a coward.

  4. I love that line too, but I always relate it to the experience of listening to music, particularly in a live concert setting. Half of it is what the artist is putting out and the other half is how the audience is receiving it. When we talk about memorable vs. less than ideal shows, I think a bad crowd can kill even the best effort from the artist, while a show with flubs and imperfect sound can be transcendent when you get that special audience connection, when it seems like we're all one big family.

Well put. I can see that! Thank you
  5. "Half of it's you, and half is me."

It's so simple & straightforward a comment on (any) relationship, but still a line that seems to have other meanings when I hear it in some other frame of mind. And the musical meandering right after that line gives it such a nice moment to sink in and roll around in my head. Love that...

I like be that line too. Nice description about the song after the lyric.

The imagery of the leaves and the authors head on the others knee. Damn it! It's so good.

I always look at that line as a reference to parenting and how the child is half of each parent.

    Damn I love Jeff Tweedy

  6. As I look down with my two eyes and my two green thumbs

I despise the people who walk on the green green grass

I grew with my watered love

Requested this song so many times. So bad ass. I love the line

"my father always said that I would never amount to anything....but I'm the family gardener" my voice is known to quiver a little when I sing it. Even though my father has never said that to me. Lol

But for my favorite line rt now today at this moment I'd have to go with:

"So I tap my glass and nod my chin

And wonder who you've been in rhythm with"

    LOVE

  7. That is such an intimate and encouraging story. Congratulations! In my mind I imagined you and your wife dancing slowly and close to one another with the song playing in the background. Funny to think about considering I've be ever met either of you. Nonetheless, thank you and here's to a healthy beautiful girl on the way.
